This is the WORST phone I have ever owned. Within 1 month, the screen broke ($300 to fix). Now the battery is defective and keeps suddenly draining. I will never get a Samsung phone again after this horrific experience.

If you need Netflix screen sharing capability and regularly watch DRM encoded content, if you want a better selfie camera with 4K recording, a 5G option for superfast download/upload speeds, manual LTE band selection for the best data speeds, if you want a bright, gorgeous amoled screen that's very saturated, if you want guaranteed 3 year android software updates, if you want much better security with Knox and with no lingering doubts about hidden government backdoors, if you want a faster processor, if you want micro SD card encryption and hidden SSID option, if you want an AD free interface, if you want a more mature operating system that doesn't kill/disable/suspend background apps aggressively causing delays in messaging updates and widget apps that stop from updating, then I can tell you, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is worse. Otherwise, go ahead if you don't care about any of those I mentioned above which the A71 is capable of and does so well that the cheaper Redmi Note 9 Pro can't do.

If you want better camera and brighter display at the detriment of a smaller notched screen, while not being able to use wired headphones, expand storage with micro sd or screen share offline Netflix downloads, plus smaller battery, slower charging, incapability to select LTE bands to your liking or incapability to hide your SSID, go with the Oneplus.

Add open camera app and learn to use manual camera controls like long shutter with torch/flash permanently on plus manual focus and manual ISO plus setting tweaks and you'll see the A71 outperform the Pixel phone.
Otherwise, if you just want to point and shoot and don't bother learning more abou photography, just get a newer Pixel phone or get an iphone.

After I ruined my Pixel3a I needed a new phone. I thought I would try a 5g phone. This phone has been a big disappointment especially in the camera department. Where as the pixel gave excellent pictures in most situation, the Samsung phone struggles to focus, has a weak flash and few camera options. I installed a 3rd party camera app which helps but it still is inferior to the pixel phone it replaced. The fingerprint reader is also unreliable.

dj1891, 11 Oct 2020I own a S10 Plus after coming from a A71, my fingerprint sc... moreThe ultrasonic underdisplay fingerprint sensor on the S10+ should be better in theory compared to the optical underdisplay sensor on the A71. But ultrasonic sensors are relatively new so it's not perfect yet.
As for optical underdisplay fingerprint scanners,they're finicky with dry fingertips so if you are having problems with false rejections, be sure to make the fingertip oily and shiny first so the optical underdisplay fingerprint sensor will recognize it in one try. Touch the fingertip against an oily part of your face, scalp/head or body. If nothing is oily in your body, bring baby oil and use it on your dry, flaky fingertip before scanning/unlocking phone.

I own a S10 Plus after coming from a A71, my fingerprint scanner on the S10 plus is just as bad as the A71, I have resorted to turning it off and using my watch to unlock via bluetooth. Biometrics on A71 and S10 plus are crap. Face recognition uses the old method thats been around since android 4 or before and in display finger print scanners should be forgot about and never used again.
