But I can advice you to buy A22 (4G, because it has OIS in the main camera) or A52s if you have more budget.

This phone is amazing..even faster than my galalxy A32. Modern midrange Samsung phone use cheap CPU....like mediatek...what a shame.

the cameras are good
the chipset is great
the screen is great
though the battery is 500 mAh short of the average phone nowadays, nothing too dramatic though!
overall a good phone if you can find it under 400 euros, and if you're going to get it, I strongly recommend the 128/6, 128/8, 256/6, and 256/8 models, as the 128/4 option might be sluggish under heavy use/ multitasking.

I have to change my beloved A8 due to battery issue. I love A8, really good in performing all the tasks I need.
Which replacement do you suggest? Is the A52s 5G a good alternative?

This device is considered one of the best that Samsung has produced since its establishment. I have an A52s but it can't be compared to this masterpiece. It's really unfortunate that I missed out on buying it on time while I was indulging in iPhones.

worked well till it died - 3 years is NOT long enough for a machine of this cost which has not been mistreated

A52 & A72 both have Always On display and of course faster processor than this. Yes, they only have IP67, but the difference is only between 1 meter and 1.5 meter under water. Both plastic & glass body have their own good/bad aspect, S21 even has plastic body.
Not to mention every upper midrange from samsung have 4 years software support. You buy A52 this year, it will have the same interface and security with Galaxy S24 in 2024.

I've been using this device for over 3 years now the device is still great piece of tech. the galaxy A8 has premium design with aluminium frame , gorilla glass back and front. i can still get the fone wet with no fear, the A8 is ip68 rated and has always on display. It sad that this device overpowers the new mid range devices with some features, such as A32 /52 / 72 with no always on display and IP68 rating and has plastic body

While the 2021 A52 and A72 has an IP67 rating, this 2018 smartphone has an IP68 rating! It's crazy to see those new models doesn't even have better resistance than older phones. To make matters worse, the A52 and A72 don't even have MST capability for Samsung Pay whereas this phone does. While NFC is the new tech, there are a lot of retailers in my country that still relies on MST. So really, this is the cheapest Samsung phone that has both IP rating and NFC+MST Samsung Pay capability. Sure that there is the A5 (2017) and the A7 (2017), but the chipset is already too old now.

Bought June 2018, after a year it just froze. Brought it to Samsung service center and got the motherboard replaced for free. 2 years on, and countless system updates, still works just fine for me. Only gripe is very limited internal storage, occupied by so much bloatware and useless apps.
