the best samsung gsm I've had, galaxy s2, s4, s5. I currently have galaxy s7 and I'm not happy. Samsung does not innovate, starting with the battery.

Bought this phone 2 days ago and I'm very satisfied with it! It will run pretty much anything you need, and there's no lag, it doesn't get slow either. Love the look of the phone (Orchid Gray), it feels like I'm using a premium phone (it's very close to being premium too). As for the cameras, rear cam is okay, but front camera is just INCREDIBLE!! Selfies come out very clear and with lots of detail :) and the live focus feature is great too! Unfortunately there's no front flash light like on rear camera but it has ''flash'' that brightens up your screen and it actually works for night shots :)...also for snapchat fans - the camera brings some stickers, filters, skin smooth, skin color so you don't have to download other camera applications from google play store...I have the dual sim model and both sim cards and functional...The sound on this phone is pretty awesome, it's very loud and good quality sound (i was surprised), and speaker placed on the side makes it even better! Battery lasts a good amount of time too i guess, even with always on display. About fingerprint...it's amazingly fast, there's face recognition too but it doesn't work well in low light. Regarding price, surely you can get a -better specification- phone in same price range (around 500 euros, - I paid 480 for mine with discount) but in my opinion this phone is totally worth it. Samsung has never let me down :)

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2018Coming from the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), I’ll be doing a c... moreWell it is not larger, but more noticeably longer, because of the new 18:9, but in SAMSUNG's way it is 18.5:9, kind of weird though. As expected, more resolution, again, because of that 18.5:9 aspect ratio display, making FHD 1080x2220 instead of the normal 1080x1920 we see on 16:9 aspect ratio smartphones. But one downside like what u said, u have to crop the videos to fill the whole screen, to be honest I recommend brands to go back to 16:9 aspect ratio but keep every other thing the same, however 18:9 aspect ratio is a thing now, so there is no turning back. One of the biggest upgrades for this GALAXY A8 2018 is the chipset, having almost the same processing power as the SNAPDRAGON 660, and it is also meant to compete with the likes of the SNAPDRAGON 820, just like what the SNAPDRAGON 660 is meant to do. I always got high hopes for their own in-house chipsets, especially the raw CPU power, in benchmarks like GeekBench it is definitely better than the SNAPDRAGON 820 found in my XPERIA XZ and XPERIA XZs for multitasking. Don't know how the camera will perform, but it is probably the selfie camera to get more upgrades than the rear. I don't have the GALAXY A8 2018 since I don't buy mid-end smartphones, but I'm recommending it to my friend. It is a great phone really when the price drops, plus it is quite a decent upgrade from the GALAXY A5 2017, EXYNOS 7885 is a way more powerful chipset than its predecessor

Coming from the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), I’ll be doing a comparison for those looking to upgrade.
Have this phone for about two weeks now and I am generally satisfied with it. The A8 (2018) trumps its predecessor in almost every way.
Both phones are about the same size but the A8 has a slightly larger screen with better resolution. The screen aspect ratio of 18.5:9 is a little awkward and not well-supported to say the least. When watching videos in landscape mode, it wont fill up the full screen and you’ll notice empty black spaces at the top and bottom of the phone. The S8 and Note 8 has the same aspect ratio though, so it’s not a problem specific to the A8. You can only hope app manufacturers support it in the future. It’s not a major issue for me either ways, and it’s one I can overlook. Downsides of the Infinity Display.
Last year’s model was lighter in weight but the A8 doesn’t feel heavy at all. After holding and handling it, the difference is barely felt and I got used to it in no time. It actually feels sturdy/sturdier too, as you can read/hear from many reviews.
Contrary to some reviews below, the cameras are actually pretty decent. They wont blow your feet off but it’s a major improvement from last year’s. The dual front cameras makes your selfies look better and the rear cam got upgraded from f/1.9 to f/1.7. Still no OIS but Samsung threw in phase detection autofocus which is better than nothing I guess.
The phone also feels zippier when scrolling, probably due to the faster chip and bigger RAM. There is no noticeable lag even though I have more than a hundred apps.
The only thing the A8 (2018) lags the A5 (2017) is battery endurance. Both are 3000 mAH, but due to the larger screen in A8 you’ll find your battery draining faster. Nothing a few tweaks in the settings cant solve however.
I got this phone at an unbeatable price of around 490 SGD which is slightly more than 300 Euros. Yes, that was me commenting previously. I would say go for it if you can get this phone on the cheap/at a discount. If not, you might wanna consider other phones at a similar price range like the OnePlus 5T, Huawei P20 Lite and the Nokia 7 Plus.

This phone still cannot beat s7. s7 is the good choice compared to this, better processor, display, camera and features. This phone only front cam and battery.
