An awful phone, despite it's popularity. The thing is INSANELY slow, with a single core CPU at a low clock rate to boot, and is equipped with a meager amount of ram. Because of this, it can barely handle it's OS, and drops frames/lags even on simple apps and on the home screen (below 30fps all the time). On top of this, it's running Ice Cream Sandwich, and while this may not be a problem for many people, it would be better off with Kitkat, which is far better optimized and might redeem this phone.

In short, don't buy this phone. There are barely any redeeming qualities to it, and for the price (ranging from about $150 to about $200, there are SO many better options--take the Moto G, for example, which is far better for a cheaper price, with the latest OS and surprising specs! Please don't waste your time with this phone.

Since I add Lighting Launcher and Smart Booster, the Ace 2x is working fine. Considering the low price it is a good choice. It does everything I need.

AnonD-258499, 28 Apr 2014This phone comes out of the box with a slow Touchwiz versio... moreI feel like an idiot! Telus bought publicmobile so the 2 phones (1 for wife) I purchased 3months ago had no chip and will NOT work with any carrier. After numerous calls/emails I got them to concede and ship me 2 new Galaxy ace ll x's to replace the phones that will nolonger work.Like an idiot I believed the rep. That these phones are great...just wanting to get this ordeal over with. Now I've read all these terrible reviews but my phones are expected tomorrow. I am NOT phone savvy, but someone said there are things that can be done to make the phones run better? If someone could explain what to do in lamen terms I would be extremely grateful.
Should have done this research first...I'll learn.

This phone is absolutely awful. It freezes every 10 seconds and takes 5 minutes before it starts running normally again. If you are planning on getting this phone, don't. It is super slow, and has nothing but problems. The touch screen freezes and constantly doesn't work at all.

It's a cheap phone pretty good for non-rich user, or for a novice in Android world. I love this because have all is needed, and there is no a big risk to be stolen. I have also a Samsung Note 3 and I'm really scared to use it in public (I live in Chile).
Due to this my GT-S7560 is fantastic.
I know all people in USA is rich ;) ... and they love the best of the best, for them Samsung Galaxy Ace IIx won't be a good choice.
              For normal people... take it!

It's a terrible phone. Firstly, it's running 4.04 out of the box, which is way outdated, especially these days. It has stuttering and dropped frames simply while scrolling through apps, and just about everything else is laggy. It's running on a single core processor, and a meager less than 1gb of ram, which frankly nowadays is unforgivable. The only real way I could see this phone becoming a viable choice is if it was upgraded to KitKat, which is far better optimized for low end phones, but for now, meh.

For a free phone I have seen much worse than the Galaxy X II but for $400 I have seen much, much better. Some people should think twice before complaining on the lack of features found on newer or more expensive handsets. This little thingy is only meant to be used as a phone, not play games (but it has a surprisingly good camera) or run aps that belong on a Nexus 5 or Galaxy S5. Goodie for no money.

This phone comes out of the box with a slow Touchwiz version of Ice Cream Sandwich. The best ROM I've found for it so far is Cyanogenmod 10.1 by SeannyM. It has some problems (no Bluetooth or FM radio, need to install different apps for the camera and data usage, no off-mode charging), but it runs smoothly if you can live with those issues. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50909757 It's no longer being updated.

Another is a KitKat Cyanogenmod build from jonypx08, still being updated but also very slow right now and with data and wifi access bugs. But it'll probably improve in time. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50909757

Use LagFix from the Play Store to use TRIM on the memory. Use Link2SD and a Class 10 microSD to install all your apps onto a microSD. Leave the 4GB of internal memory for Android and its built-in apps. This way, your Ace 2x will run well, store plenty of files and use apps with high memory demands.

This phone is terrible out of the box. Android 4.0.4 is dated, the TouchWiz version of Android is slow, illogical and the single-core processr, low RAM and measly 4GB of internal storage will fill up by day one.

This phone is pretty awesome if you know your way around rooting, flashing ROMs, using external storage and using apps such as LagFix and Link2SD. The processor and RAM are low-end, you can root it and but SeannyM's build of CyanogenMod 10.2 runs like a dream. 4GB of storage space is bad, but if you get a Class10 microSD card, you can use that for storage space and Link2SD will let you run apps from the microSD smoothly. LagFix can provide the TRIM protocol that pre-4.3 builds of Android lack, preventing the phone from running slower than it does from initial usage.

If you can buy this phone used and cheap, it can be rewarding.

Pretty brutal phone. Maybe when it came out it was okay, but anyone who buys this phone in today's market is ignoring plenty of phones that knock this one out of the park for the same (some even cheaper) price. Moto G, Xperia M, Alcatel idol x and Idol mini. Be reasonable son, the word "Samsung" isn't worth 150 wasted dollars.

I've noticed under specs, there's no chipset or GPU listed. What does this mean, as far as use is concerned???
