Hello, I am interested in buying either the Defy or Samsung Galaxy Ace and would like to ask users of the Ace their opinon. As well as the obvious phone calls & text, my main application will be GPS & navigation. Can users of the phone tell me if the GPS gets a reliable quick lock on satellites and maintains the fix?

To upgrade:
1. Extract the rar, use password: samfirmware.com.
1. Power off your phone.
2. Press the home key + volume down key + power key for a few seconds till the screen say "downloading..".
3. Connect your phone with usb data cable, wait till drivers installed.
4. Run the odin program, choose files:
OPS > Cooper_v1.0.ops
Boot > APBOOT_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
Phone > MODEM_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03.tar.md5
PDA > CODE_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
CSC > CSC_S5830SERKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
5. Click Start, and wait.
6. After finished the phone will reboot and your phone now using gingerbread 2.3.4.

hi
is there a faster way to search for apps in the andriod market?? like just typing the specific app i want to install and it will already show? or do i really have to scroll down and just look for it 1 by 1??

Its a gr8 phone. worth every penny i spent. its worth like an iphone in this affordable range yet very fast and powerfull.
a bit concerned with battery life but its all on our usage.

I think you got a faulty set and you still have 1 year warranty what? I've got my ace 1 month plus ago and its function superbly. Unless you bought a RECOND set !!!

MObeen, 10 Jul 2011how is the battery life if we only use 2g network??on 2g with gingerbread it give more battery life, ofcourse it depends on your usage too..

Running now 2 Days 15 hours 5 min and 44S on battery.

mac, 11 Jul 2011Hieee guys....just got my ace last month n its not working ... moreFirst Remove all the installed apps and games.. everything what you have installed and try resetting to factory defaults( of course you have to take a backup of contacts, sms, memo, calender entry) and wait for few days and check, if its does. if still the problem persists.. options are..
1) verify with Samsung stores..( if not rooted, rooting will voice warranty)
2) either can re install 2.2 or upgrade to 2.3 ( both ar your own risk, just to warn) and test for 2 3 days.
if after removing all applications works, better in 2.2 itself then try installing one by one app and do have some limit to the app u r installing.. phone will work Awsome..

I can't upgrade the firmware from version 2.2 to 2.3 using samsung kies. The loading of the upgrade took hours and cannot finish, so, I got bored and had to cancel it. I've tried upgrading the firmware several times but in vain. The instruction says it would take about 5 to 30 minutes depending on the internet speed, but, my internet is fast enough. Any suggestions? If you may! Thank you!

Hieee guys....just got my ace last month n its not working properly...almost evryday it force closes n i have 2 remove the battery....i tried a master reset yet the problem still persists...can the problem be solved if i upgrade it to v2.3 gingerbread?...someone please help...thanks

Awesome phone, bought last month, very good camera photos.
I upgrade it to android 2.3.4 (xxkph) rom and very stable, never crash and got vga 640x480 video recording don't know how many fps.
The only downside is that the camera lens is uncovered, everytime when i took a photo the dirt ruins my photo.

Who even complain for battery..this is the Answer..( i am unsure how to post pic here, so i am not pasting pic but what written are exactly shown from Phone)
1) Home>>Settings>about Phone>>Battery Use:-
2 day 4 Hour 25 min 24S on Battery
Cell Standby : 45% ( 2 day 4 Hour 27 min 24S)
Phone Idle: 41% ( 1 Day 23 hour 23 Min 37 S)
Voice Calls: 8% ( 50 Min 46 S)
Display: 5% ( 5 Hours 4 Min 54 sec)
Wifi: 3% ( 3 hour 16 min 29 S)
( Phone Version is upgraded to GingerBread 2.3.4)
( Battery is not completed, using advance Battery Doc App , it shows 5% still remaining)

Above stats are perfect and typing as shown on phone. Its not that i have not used phone from past 2 days, i have used to talk to friends for 50 mins. Used Wifi and browsed phone + facebook and Mail for 3 hour and 16 min and display is also on for 5 hour 4 Min. Have many vedio songs downloaded from you tube and movie , so have watched more than 1 hour i can say.
Still juice is remaining 5%.
So this is my answer to the people who complain on Battery. I will say, if you use only to phone and text, with an average of 30 minutes a day on phone, you will sure get for 3 days of battery.
So ACE is Very Good phone for the price what you are paying. Its worth every penny.
