To set things right, that 16Mpix 21x optical zoom (focal length 23-483mm) has same angular resolution at zoom 1.8x already as N808's 41Mpix at 1x (focal length 26mm). And at 21x zoom, the angular resolution is 11x better - for that, nokia with its 26mm eq. focus would need to be 5521Mpix, clear imposibility.
So yes, in terms of seeing distant details in photos, the only way is to have big OPTICAL zoom. And for that, samsung galaxy camera is best.
The only place where nokia can outcompete samsung galaxy camera, due to its larger physical sensor size, is at lower light conditions, till max 1.8x zoom.
It would be realy nice if somebody (samsung, are you listening :) ?) would combine those two things, and use large sensor, whole in low zooms and with reduced area for large zoom, alowing small overal size of telephoto lenses as well as good low light sensitivity at 1x zoom....
A hybrid sensor with more dense central area, perhaps.. ?

I don't really know why people admire this so much because it's rubbish 1/2.3" camera sensor isn't really all new high tech it has a standard 4.3 OS but a good 1.6 GHz 4.8" screen gorilla glass 2 isn't that high tech aswell it has a rubbish 2000MAh battery and no front camera and the main disapointment about this phone is compared to the GC100 this is not much of an improvement

i cannot believe people are saying best cameraphone ever because i cant see why 21x zoom is not much higher then my xperia z 16 mp my nokia 808 pureview is better and the handset itself isn't so amazing Quad core 1.6 GHz 4.8" gorilla glass 2 android 4.3 2000mAh battery no front camera and to top it of IT IS NOT A GSM DEVICE
i prefer GS4 and xperia Z ZL ZR and Z1 to the galaxy

Thats funny the negative comments about this compating it to other high end phones as one person stated its a CAMERA with a phone housing quite a unique experience i must say hands on. if your into photo blogging fbook instagram pics sections this is ideal as the camera is the best on any smart phone to date besides the nokia we all know but this had 10x zoom in regards as the nokis does not and if you need a phone there you go great idea samsung not a toy by far a practical device for people who need it..

Omg.. I wonder how the Note 3 were born in the Samsung if they created this 'beast'..Hahaha.. XZ1, HTC One, Note 3, LG G2, Iphone 5s, Lumia 1520 is a better buy, 4G, 64GB, Quad Core 2+ghz Snapdragon 800.. Well.. This thing is a kids toy.. Pathetic..

This is a CAMERA, do not compare it with a smartphone ! The only thing they have in common is Android.
