With all respect, Galaxy S3 does that too, Nokia 808 as well. They both lack the zoom level in the galaxy camera but from what I tried and read in gsmarena and other locations, it is hard to make a good image because it does not have a good image stabilization. So the bottom line is that it is an average quality picture with some not bad applications at the price of an SLR camera, the choice is yours

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2013If it is not a phone., why is there a Message Icon on scre... moreThis is because the operating system is android which can be installed in GSM devices as well as wifi only devices. Think of it as some tablets from Samsung, Motorola, Acer...etc has sometimes 2 versions of tablets (one with GSM functionality and another one without) both versions would look the same until you actually try to access network services.

AnonD-96121, 21 Feb 2013 we Can send or receive messages Using thisNo my friend you can not. Please don't mix SMS with application short messages. VRingo, whatsapp, nimbuzz messages are not SMS. An SMS is carrier dependant (not software) so it is linked to a GSM / SIM number. To make it more clear, you can not go to contacts in the galaxy camera and select a name then choose send SMS, it wont work.

AnonD-9098, 20 Feb 2013well u can install viber i guess and can use as phone with 3gEven if it is true that installing viber would let you make phone calls over 3G, why not get a better solution at the same price (or it could be even cheaper in some places), the mighty Galaxy S3, excellent phone excellent battery, light weight, always with you in your pocket to get that moment in impressive still photo or video and you can make phone calls as you want :-)
The thing I forgot to mention about the Galaxy Camera, no one will be walking around carrying that huge thing all day long, but your mobile phone is always there with you at your service.

geodatme, 19 Feb 2013bro did you read the specs of the gc100?what is the purpose... moreThe purpose of the micro SIM is for data only.
The specs (which you are recommending to read) clearly says (Device with no support for GSM voice communication), that means you can not make/receive phone calls or SMS messages using the Galaxy Camera.
I'm not sure why GSMArena is putting a value in the "Battery" section under the "Talk Time" but it is for sure not a mobile phone so there is no talk time available here.

I'm a big fan of Samsung solutions all over, they have been producing some really impressive devices in many aspects. This one is sure not among their good products. I have tried to figure out what is the main attraction in it but failed (I'd love if someone would shed a light on this part). Picture quality "might" be better than cheap/low end point and shoot(s), but this is one not priced as a cheap, in fact it is more expensive than the likes of Canon 1100/Nikon 3100 (and needless to say they are light years ahead in terms of picture quality compared to Galaxy Camera). Someone here mentioned that his/her brother got a Nikon Coolpix and it produced lower quality images, with all respect, I'm 100% sure that the Coolpix model you are talking about is much cheaper than the Galaxy Camera. I have Coolpix 9300 (and its NOT a great camera) yet it outperformed the Galaxy Camera by miles and its just a $300 device.
The other let down was the battery. with a huge screen and data connectivity on, it didn't last the whole school open day (where my brother brought it and I got to actually compare it for myself) while the Coolpix 9300 was on till I got back home, plugged the camera to the computer, uploaded the photos and videos and shared them with my other family members. Also, the large zoom the Galaxy Camera has is almost useless as the image stabilization is very poor and you should have some REALLY steady hands to get a sharp clear photo (while using the zoom).
All in all, it could be good as a $200 device, but currently the way it is priced it is a sure not worth to buy (that's my own opinion), as I noted, I failed to justify what is special about it.. Uploading to youtube on the spot? that's not a reason to spend that much money on such picture quality, at the end of the day, it is supposed to be a camera and the main function is quality photos/videos.
