I contacted Samsung Australia and got referred to Samsung Hong Kong. (That's where I bought the phone, and is what made me consider that maybe in HK they don't include the nextG band.) Yet, customer service Hong Kong also confirmed that their phones do support 850MHz frequency. - I then rang Telstra tech support and got prompted to change Proxy settings and Authentication type, which indeed improved connectivity and speed. It's still a lot less then what my partner has on his old apple 4s. (In particular I cannot play German TV apps...) Hence I would be very curious about how you performed your network scan /if it shows frequencies.
Oh, if anyone else here want's to know if their phone supports nextG, there is a Telstra website that lets you enter your phone's IMEI to check if it supports nextG:http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/networks/network_info/check-imei.html (However, it did not return a result for me.)
Thx

Weirdly enough though I have (a lot) worse Telstra reception with the galaxy express than I used to have with my old galaxy ace (like 1-2 instead of 4 bars).
So, I'll check with Samsung customer care and post here if anything of general interest comes out of it.
Thanks again.

Just did a network scan. I'm with Optus but it managed to find Telstra 2G and 3G so I'm assuming it'll work. Plus I've read in numerous places that Telstras frequencies are supported.
Hope this helps.

Hi
I am seeking clarification on specifications:
I purchased this phone after reading on GSM Arena that the phone supports 3G frequencies: 850, 900 and 2100Mhz, as well as lte.
Most important to me is 3G: 850Mhz (called 'nextG' by Telstra in Australia).
Now that I received the phone it reads on the package:
"HSPA+: HSDPA 42,2 Mbps / HSUPA 5,76 Mbps
Bi-bande (900/2100 Mhz)"
May I assume that this phone does not support 3G/next G: 850Mhz then?

AnonD-186326, 14 Sep 2013hey guys my phone is getting hot while surfing internet.all... moreMine does not get hot surfing the net or playing demanding games like modern combat 4 and NFS most wanted. Using phone at 20 degrees room temperature without a case.
Is your phone rooted or are you using it in hot weather/ direct sunlight or are you using a bulky case that stores heat?
If none of the above maybe get the phone looked at by a professional.

The review is quite accurate. Howevephonere are a few things that were not meantioned.
No option to add shortcuts to the lockscreen.
Impossible to change bottom dock shortcuts (phone , contacts etc.)
Purchasing this phone after my Htc Inc S died I was reluctant to buy a non Htc as I had gotten used to Sense over the years. Touchwiz does the job though. Its not Sense but it gets the job done.
Things that the reviews meantion that I can confirm:
Although the screen has a low rez its still a very good picture
The battery life is amazing on this phone
Under good light conditions the camera does a good job but otherwise its pretty shoddy.
Hope my 2cents help making a informed decision on weather to buy this phone.
I am personally very happy with it for the retail price I paid and would recommend it to people that are on a budget and dont want to fork out for the latest and greatest phones.
As long as you arent a photo buff this phone will do the job imo.
