This phone is RUBBISH stay the heck away from it!
SOO Many problems including:
1. Regular hangs if Wi-Fi is left on - u have to remove the battery to reboot it!
2. If in the mode where the screen turns off during a call, you often can't hang-up after the call, so if the other person doesnt, you have to pull the battery out!
3. Disgraceful touch screen. To start an SMS you almost have to poke ya finger through the glass!
4. It doesnt tell you how many characters you have typed when typing an SMS. In Australia
we want to know if we exceed 160 as we'll be charge for a 2nd msg.

The battery is really bad, almost does'nt stand a day. But i guess it's all the android system. i am using this for almost 1 month nd facing a problem i-e it powered off once a day automatically

Yes, rooting is not only possible but also very easy on gio. It grants you superuser access level and then you can flash stock/custom roms of your choice, install tweaks to boost performance and a lot more things. You better search on google to get detailed guide on how to root your gio.

the galaxy gio has impressed me with it's accurate tourch response, it really corresponds beyond to what you want it's more like a magnet. wow!!!!!cool phone at present.start galaxy life with this caracter in samsung galaxy series and you will prove it.

However, if you just want to transmit your video then you can use Tango app. It supports rear camera for video chat but during that you won't be able to see the video of person you're chatting with.

The only issue I faced was a slow fix but I resolved that by installing an app from market (it requires root). Now I get a fix very quickly. I have used both sygic and google for navigation.
Overall, my experience with Gio's GPS has been great!
