So the reverse, for yourself, should work. Just watch the U revision of firmware to match the one reported on unit.

PS note on OS: Info I see doesnt match my handset, a sm-j337w "J3 Star" T-mobile, but I'm in Canada. Mine runs:
As of August 9 2020, the current "max" OS version offically releases is Android 9, or Pie, to security patch dated to March 2020. Running Samsung's UI: One Home 10.x (10.1.0 I think?)

as long as U revision of firmware is the same for its j337(insert model letter) type it will flash.
I have a t-mobile "star", from USA > New York state, working on XAC firmware (Canadian version) in Ontario.
Good phone I got FRP/OEM locked for $10 with no back.

I've had my Samsung J3 for two years now and have had no problems ,,, until now. Seems that my Li-Ion Battery is bulging enough so that it had pushed open the back of the phone and even broke open the shockproof case I have it in. Ya think it might be ready to explode? Must be one of those cheap Chinese Batteries that you pay top dollar for and it's just like the rest of the crap they ship to us. No way a battery's life is only two years especially since I use it strictly as a phone and not like my laptop whose battery is 5 years old and still going strong!

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2020not happy with this phone. had a galaxy grand prime previ... moreMy mum currently owns the galaxy grand prime and its a hunk of junk.
The screen is glitched and oversensitive at certain points
The screen is absolutely abysmal; qHD IPS (540x960, same resolution as the iPhone 4) and so it has an astonishingly low ppi. Not to mention you can't even watch HD videos on it, either native or through YouTube....
Phone performance and the camera are even worse. Where to start?? Every picture the camera takes has some form of noise in it, and the phone only has a measly 1GB of ram, and can barely hold two apps in the background.
The phone's also stuck on Android 4.4, with no further updates, which sucks considering it has a 64-bit processor which can be fully taken advantage of if updated to at least Android 5.
Lastly, the phone only has 8gb of storage, in which only 5gb is available to the user, what a pain.....at least it has SD card support....
The only thing it's got going for it is the battery life, but that's only because the screen resolution is painfully low.
This Galaxy J3 on the other hand, has twice the RAM, twice the processing power, twice the storage, twice the screen resolution and has Android 8 to top it all off. I don't see how it's not a definitive upgrade to the Grand Prime unlike what you said .......>_>

not happy with this phone. had a galaxy grand prime previously and that was a much better phone. you'd think quality would get better as new models replace old. not so in this case. would not recommend

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2018Is 16gb enough to run on Android 8.0 and download anything ... moreNot sure if you'll even be able to see this reply considering how late it is, but the 16GB this phone offers is enough for me, and Im saying this with multiple games and social media apps on my phone yet still having 1 GB or so free. A neat trick is to store photos and videos in a sd card or cloud storage if possible and regularly clean your device. (Technically, you're only getting around 10 - 11 GB as the rest is reserved for running the phone's core systems, but oh well.)
As for the microSD card, the phone supports up to 400GB if i remember correctly.
The performance and battery life is decent, too. Sure it may not be able to handle large and graphically-intensive games, but from my experience it can run just about any arcade or casual game without lag or heating issues, and it can get through the day on a single charge.
Its specs may not look impressive on paper, but hey, dont judge a book by its cover?
The only downside would probably be the camera, but other than that it's a pretty good phone for its price; 4G LTE, removable battery, 720p IPS screen, battery saving mode and a super bright screen

Can you put an sd card in this phone and format the sd card to run as internal storage? If anyone knows please let me know.
P.S. Can this be rooted as well?

hey the j3 does have a removable battery, and performs great for me, it is the best j series 3rd generation, because its built stronger, i dropped my from 5ft and there is a crack in the top left corner so, yeah from where your getting your probabbly getting a knock off brand if your battery is not removable, and the j3 2018 orbit has more features than you think
