Ash, 22 Sep 2017It'll be postponed, S4 was certified to get marshmallow but... moreseriously, do you know what you're saying??..s5 receiving nougat update??..dude, s5 is released more than 3yrs ago...and since its release, it only covers 2years of major software update..(it is mandatory to all premium and selected units)..that's why it only received lollipop and marshmallow update...thinking that s5 will receive nougat update is entirely stupid...why do you think they'd release more advance and latest units?..think before you click, sir :)

Alright, I read quite a lot of negative comments about 2015 J5 version. I am using this phone for well over a year and certainly there are pros and cons. I have love/hate relationship towards this device, more love then hate. Simple design, solid build and overall nice looking phone for a very cheap price. Can handle the drop and not taking proper care but I would strongly advise using case and screen protector (tempered glass) if you dont want to have small but noticeable scratches once u take a good look. Removable battery is plus to me, and having an option to use SD card is a MUST for this device. Performance, day to day use, I find no problems with it. Of course you cannot expect to have flagship performance but does it lag, does it crash, is there an app that it cannot handle, almost no. From social media apps, music, videos, games, third party application, you can run almost all of them without any issues. But, big BUT, you have to know how to use this device, I know, many of you will say there it is, more work and tweaks..keep in mind this is a low end device, you do get what you pay for. I agree that having 8GB of memory is big punch in the face, especially knowing that there is no option that enables you to use SD as an internal (which to me is pretty stupid..). These few next steps will void your warranty, but it will give you best possible performance out of this device (yes you can also revert to the way it was by flashing your rom and all is good)
            1) Root this device (supersu)
            2) Install custom TWRP recovery
            3) Flash small file from XDA that will enable using SD as an internal storage
            4) Install SD Maid and most important Greenify and enable root access
            5) Install SD2Link and uninstall bloatware from this device
            - Optional - Install Nova Launcher Prime (perfect for getting as close as possible to pure android stock like UI)
With these 5 steps, you will get really good results. No issues with performance neither with low memory. Everything you do, everything you install, download, it all goes to your SD card which is now your internal storage (I am using Samsung 32GB SD card) Without it I wouldn't be able for sure to have over 60+ apps installed on my device, thousands of photos, couple of movies, etc.. (you get the picture) It is a low end device, but knowing how to use it to its fullest, you will be happy with it. Best regards, Miko

b0kn0y, 10 Sep 2017n0...j5 2015 will receive a nougat update on november this ... moreIt'll be postponed, S4 was certified to get marshmallow but Samsung cancelled it these things happen, J5 2015 is well out of the 2 year's mandotry support, i have a A5 2017 which is ls awaiting the Nougat update still. Example the S5 only received 1 major update from lollipop to marshmallow but never Nougat which this device is more capable than the J5. Anyways why would anyone update and be left with near to no memory for apps updates ect.

Samsung J5 (2017) improved camera, excellent battery life and no problem with google maps. Speaker is at the side. Oct core processor. Nougat out of the box. Aluminium body. A steal at £159 PAYG O2 UK network. Screen shot from drop down bar lacking but easily resolved with the excellent `Screen Master' app. Overall incredible value for money... little touches this phone J5. I'm a big HTC fan (well I was when they had front facing speakers and headphone jack) and have always been skeptical of Samsung, Didn't like the S6 but this is one very good piece of kit for a fraction of the price of the big boys. If you don't play games on your phone then you can't go wrong with this even if just a back-up phone. Does need extra SD card for space but for the price I am questioning why spend 4 times the money?

J5 hater, 26 Aug 2017Phone has very very low storage space. 8gb total and the op... moreIt is the worst phone I have owned and will never buy Samsung again. Reasons :
                                      1) Terrible for navigation. Without compass or Gyroscope, it winds up getting confused and points the wrong direction when you take U turn or sharp turn.
2)Miserable memory -gets full all the time
                                      3) Awful camera with a front camera that blinds user when trying to take a selfie by keeping the flash on all the time.
4)The most compelling reason to avoid this third rate design is that Samsung has blocked configuring the SD card as internal memory. To add insult to injury they have filled the internal memory with useless bloatware that cannot be removed without voiding the warranty.
                                      5) Call quality is bad . Speakerphone is worse with rear facing speaker.
