i purchased this mobile on sep 1st. i want to share my experience

                1. Build Quality - 8.5/10. very good

                2. Display - 9/10. excellent display. 5 inch Super AMOLED Display with 294 ppi. Very crisp & Sharp Display. but sometimes u find over brightness. so u felt like colour quality a bit low sometimes.

                3. Sound - 7.5/10. Sound Quality was too low on this device. u will miss some calls. in earphones , the sound quality was not upto the mark. but overall good.

                4. Performance - 8.5/10. I installed Subway surfers, Real Racing 3, Temple Run 2, Asphault 8. In Subway Surfers, i found some lag. but remaining games no lag at all . i am little bit confused. it has only 2 point multi touch, but its not a problem at all. smooth touch

                5. Camera - 8.5/10. Rear camera is good. but in low light images , not good. front camera was superb.

                6. Storage - 7/10. Storage is another drawback. Out of 8 GB u can get only 4.5 GB only. we cannot move full app to sd card. u cant install more apps. OTG supported.

                7. Battery Backup - 10/10. extraordinary battery back. just awesome. THE BEST battery backup of all mid range mobiles.

CONS - no back light on navigation buttons, low internal storage, lack of sensors like compass......, Sound Quality was not upto the mark.

Defenetely one of THE BEST mobiles in mid range. no doubt about it.

Just bought this phone around a couple weeks ago. And I love it all in all.
To be fair, here are the cons first. I ran into a bug with sound not being played twice but after restarting the device, the phone always fixed itself. The 13 mp camera is clear enough but of course it still is less than the performance of the flagship phones. But for the price and sufficient performance, I'm pretty happy already. The biggest con of all is the small 8gb storage. Considering that system files take up most of that storage space, it would make you continually transfer your files to the sd card. But in any case, the sd support goes up to 128 gb. In my opinion, if you are into games that need large internal storage (unlike me) go for the J7. Considering my usage (my games are only at most a few hundred mbs), I'm cool with the J5. The plastic back is somewhat of a downside for some. But I have a genuine samsung case, so it's irrelevant to me since I have to remove the back anyway.Though the feel of the whole device is slim, sturdy and compact even considering the material (this is what made me fall in love with it in the store).
Pros. THE BEST DISPLAY YOU CAN FIND ON MOST BUDGET PHONES. Maybe it's just my personal preference but the Super Amoled display at the extremely low price can overshadow most cons that I mentioned. The screen is beautiful. Even if the back is plastic, the stunning display makes the phone look premium and pretty eye-catching. The internal specs: 1.5 ghz etc. are sufficient enough that everything is snappy. I honestly don't feel much of lag. Next, battery life. It's the best. It keeps me through at least 2 days without charging and at moderate usage. And the ultra saving mode, maybe you don't even need that powerbank with you anymore.I don't know about you but this is a big factor for me and a big plus for the device. This device (so far) is durable. I already dropped it twice on tiled floors and no dents, no cracks. I also saw a knife test in youtube and was pretty impressed. Even if it's not gorilla glass (or at least now widely known to be), the glass is hardy. The vulnerable part is actually just the aluminum/metal sides. The design all in all: For some, it may be boring but for me, it more like classic and clean-looking. Personally, I prefer this to the bulky-looking or corner-y new designs from some other brands. And lastly, I love the samsung UI.

So to wrap things up. There will always be trade offs especially when buying budget phones. There may be phones with better specs internally (better camera, faster processors etc), but I found that I cared more about the stunning display on the samsung phones and their friendly UI. Anyway, other specs are suffiecient enough for moderate use. I'm not sure for heavy use since I've never been one to see.
In the end, it depends on the trade-offs you're willing to make. You already know why I chose this phone versus other brands. I would recommend to buy the J7 version though with the 16 gb internal storage if you're willing to shell out just a few more bucks. You never know when that 8 gb might run out given the continuous updates on apps and the built-in system apps.
