Is this phone going to receive any more updates at least for security? Becouse i am considering to start using a custom rom if it doesn't get any more updates.
The last security patch was from December 2019

                My mobile samsung j5 2017 was stolen from my home in Egypt Tanta .I called the police but authorities didn't order to track my mobile although they can do that.

                    Hi. I'm using J5 for 3years now and am a very satisfied user. Great phone, good battery. After upgrading to Android PIE ever more satisfied. Recently bought same model again.

                      Shimul, 30 Nov 2019How to update my Samsung j5 30f from Android 7.0 to 9.0? 1)You can do it by OTA update:
                      Go to settings , then swipe to the end and it should be "Software update" and click there "Download updates manually".
                      After press that you should see that new update is there to download and when you download it you can click when you want to install and after you decide to install update , phone will restart and install updates and after that automaticly restart with new os.

                      2)If something didn't work out in first way(It should but you'll never know)
                      On your phone download Smart Switch app and same on computer, when you install that and USB DRIVER( it is all in program) , launch app on PC and connect via USB and wait. In app it should say if there is update available to install...

                        How to update my Samsung j5 30f from Android 7.0 to 9.0?

                          Yesterday, i received 101,44 mb update and it is still on october security patch. That is the first update after PIE update.

                            Still using it after two years. It's still getting updates,and it's on Android 9 Pie. And it's not slowing down. Only battery ia on a weak side. Anyway,good job Samsung.

                              I still use this phone after 2 years and it is decent, i would say. A low end phone after the curent tehnology, right?
                              Anyways, i would use it another 2 years if only it had more internal storage becouse micro sd is useless for storing apps lol. 16 gb is way too little.

                              But android 9 rocks even on this device, thank you samsung

                                I was not using this phone for a year,but then when I started using it,its not showing any pie update??any idea how to get it back.All I got is may 2019 security patch.
