Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) and J5 Pro (2017) getting Android 9 update soon
The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) and J5 Pro (2017) should start receiving Android 9 Pie soon as they've been certified with the Wi-Fi alliance with the newer software.
The models in question are the SM-J530F/DS (global version), SM-J530FM/DS (UAE version) and the SM-J530Y/G/GM/YM/DS (Malaysian version).
The Galaxy J5 (2017) and J5 Pro (2017) received Android 8.1 Oreo last August.

Android Pie is a substantial upgrade on any phone but even more so on Samsung Galaxy phones as it brings the new One UI with a complete UI design overhaul and a bevy of features.
Thanks for the tip!

Maybe the A7 2017 is an exception. The SM-A720S is receiving One UI in a beta program, and the Wi-Fi Alliance confirms the Android Pie for all variants of the A7 2017.
