Someone already said the facts here - J7 that came with Lollipop, out of the box - have already been updated to Marshmallow. Thus no room for Nougat. J7 that came with Marshmallow out of the box, will get update to Nougat, the last OS update from Samsung.
Time to move on, or buy a new J7

J7 user, 18 Nov 2017Really?? Any proof?7.1.1 update rolled out in N. America on 11/18/2017 for the 2015 J7. I am running it on mine now. It should be available elsewhere soon if you haven't gotten it already.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2017Lets see. Because it is still being sold.Just because a phone is still being sold, doesn't mean it will be updated to the latest OS. Support runs from the first day a device is on the market, not the last. So if you get 2 years of OS updates, that is 2 years from June 2015. That there are still some to be found in some retail outlets is irrelevant. We just got the 7.1.1. update (finally) but don't count on getting Oreo unless you are prepared to unlock/jailbreak your phone. I'd rather just get a 2017 J7, J7 MAX or J7 Pro when 7.1.1 starts to get stale. They should be in line for 8 and maybe even 9 when it releases. If the latest version is not officially supported, it is because there are problems with performance or that drivers are not available. I want a phone that is guaranteed to work, not one with some half assed hacked OS that was never meant to run on it that may not fully support all the features and be buggy/slow or that might brick my phone. The J-series is cheap enough that upgrading to a newer model should not be an issue for most people.
