subra, 10 Jan 2020I am in the process of finalizing M30s over the A30s. Anyon... moreSamsung M series "online only" phones are targeted for young generation who prefer latest CPU/Camera and doesn't mind buying online. M stands for Millennial.
To make M series cheaper, Samsung doesn't provide Knox security features like secure folder, Samsung pay, bixby etc. Also selling online directly removes middleman shop owner, so samsung can give it cheaper.
A series is for offline sale at shops. It does have knox security features. Majority A series phones also have in-display fingerprint sensor which is generally missing from M series phones. M series phones usually have rear-mounted traditional fingerprint sensor.
M30s doesn't have NFC in some regions, so you won't be able to pay at shops. Usually A series comes with NFC.
So, if knox security features or in-display fingerprint sensor are very important for you or you don't trust online purchase and want to buy only from local shops , then go with A series phone
Otherwise M series is better. I personally don't need NFC, in-display sensor or knox security, so I chose m30s and I am happy with the device. It has been 2 months and it is working fine for me.
Also, if you decide to go with A series, do check out A50, a50s, a51 and compare it with A30s. I know A50 is older device now but recently it had price drop and it is available around 15k in India and so a50 is definitely worth looking into.

I am in the process of finalizing M30s over the A30s. Anyone , please comment, how M30s is Rs 1K cheaper than A30s with the following features in 4G variant :
1. Better processor -9611
2. Better camera -48 MP
3. Better battery - 6000 mAh
Is anything I am missing or I am being misled ? Is my decision of buying M30s is right ?

Compass gives error sometimes. Google maps keeps saying that "compass accuracy is low.. Calibrate it again"
I did calibration multiple times, it temporarily goes to "high accuracy" but returns back to low accuracy in few hours
I don't use maps much so doesn't bother me much but if you use compass a lot, you won't like this

1)great battery life.. Easily 2 days on medium usage
2)super AMOLED display is very nice
3)Ram management is quite good.. Even with 4 gb ram, many apps can be opened simultaneously without any issues
4)exynos 9611 is powerful enough for majority of users on day to day use
Few points which are not directly disadvantages or bad but that at same price better options in other companies which include faster charging, faster processor for heavy games, better camera
Actual disadvantages
1)lack to dedicated auto brightness sensor... Phone uses front camera for auto brightness which uses a lot of battery
2)fingerprint sensor is extremely sensitive to sweaty skin.. Works good for dry skin but even little sweat on finger starts giving errors.. Also recommended to keep wiping fingerprint sensor with a normal cloth every alternate day

If you camera is your priority then please stay away from this phone. It has many flaws in camera like focus hunting issue, lacks in sharpness and details, smudged edges and don't bother discussing of low light photography. Sammy should learn lessons from Chinese brands, if you want an all rounder phone you can choose Redmi note 7 pro, MIA3, Redmi note8 and with a little more money Zenfone 6
