Samsung Galaxy M55 appears on Geekbench with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

Samsung is preparing to launch a Galaxy M55 smartphone with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset by Qualcomm. This was revealed on Geekbench, where the SM-M556B was benchmarked. The device also appeared with 8 GB RAM and Android 14, likely with One UI 6 on top.

The smartphone was tested on an older 4.2 version of Geekbench, which is so dated even our test database does not include any relevant results. This means the 3,575 single-core and 11,330 multi-core scores cannot be compared with other smartphones, and we have no idea how it would stack against competitors.

Luckily, we can make another comparison of this raw CPU performance. The predecessor Galaxy M54 was announced with Exynos 1380, while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is seen in Honor 90 and Xiaomi 13 Lite phones. Our data shows that processor-wise, performance will not be a huge improvement, but switching to a Qualcomm SoC might increase the battery life of the Galaxy M55.

However, these synthetic benchmarks are just the outline of the whole landscape. We have to wait for Samsung to actually launch the Galaxy M55 to see how it would stack against competitors.
