weretiger, 19 Oct 2011Samsung will not shot itself by launching something which h... moreYes, i agree.. the way i see it is that this phone serves more as a platform for developers and hardware manufacturers.. with the relatively mediocre specs (compared to flagship models nowadays), it shows its compatibility with lower spec phones that have been out in the market for a while.. and certainly samsung, being a biz company, wouldn't want to cut its sales by introducing a google phone that is better than its flagship model.. the OS can certainly work for phone with faster cpu, or more MP cameras.. but why must they push the price even higher? They can cut corners here and there just to make this platform phone more affordable.. and don't forget about the megapixel myth.. more megapixels doesn't necessarily equates to better image quality, it only lets you print bigger.. but again, how many of you actually print bigger than A4 from phone camera? For me, 5mp is more than enough, 8mp is a bonus..

I don't know why people care so much about megapixels.. has anyone here not read about the megapixels myth? More megapixels does not necessarily means better image quality.. it just makes it larger.. want a better image quality? Then you should care more about its pixel size, noise handling capability and its light gathering capability.. want a great camera? Get a digital camera.. if competitors go with a decent 8mp cameras but you have a better performing 5mp snapper, why not? I know it's not yet proven but at least get some facts right that more MP does not necessarily means better camera.. any good photographers should know that.. i'll gladly choose a 6mp nikon d70 over lets say nikon coolpix line with 12mp in it.. because the sensor is larger and it has a better image quality than the smaller sensor in the compact cameras..

Doesn't make any difference on the pic quality for a phone after 5MP. Its just all numbers after that. Not any ground breaking wow features either in the phone or in the new ice cream sandwich. From that perspective, its a bit disappointing.

This is very disappointing...Thought Samsung would be able to create something more sophisticated. Might as well go for iPhone 4 with iOs5...

this has pissed me off! samsung/android is now operating like apple and dishing out old hardware with minor updates.

5mp is not that much of a big deal, most probably, you would just use the camera for ordinary photography, just for daily shooting. and bigger megapixel doesn't mean better photos. don't be fooled by the megapixel hype.
With the 1.3 front camera, maybe the ice cream sandwich is packed with native video calling? and 2mp front cameras wouldn't make much sense. you'd only be using it for self-close up photography.

Do keep in mind, that the megapixels does not make the Camera. Most phones with 8 Megapixels, such as the Desire HD, takes ridiculously BAD pictures. Now, compared to the iPhone 4, which "only" has a 5MP Camera, it takes SLIGHTLY better pictures. Regarding the camera, it all comes down to the lens itself. Megapixel is in fact irrelevant. A 5 megapixel is more than enough, with such a ridiculously overpowered lens, and the software, in Android 4.0. Get your facts straight before starting complaining about the camera.
