Easy to check for production.Remove battery and read on the back of the cellphone-for Samsung if it is Made in Korea or Vietnam its pretty good quality, if it is China or Samsung corp.-low quality...

Having recently come across one of these for a bargain, I bought it. Frankly, I couldn't be happier with this "older" phone (the newest being a US spec Galaxy S3). It's innards are completely different and while being an older phone, I always wanted a Nexus device for pure Android without carrier bloat and skinned versions of the OS. TouchWiz, Sense, etc.

Running Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on this phone is freakishly fast and while it may be made of plastic, the curved display, glass, and the entire phone is a neat design. Compared to the far newer LG based Nexus 4, I still prefer the design of the Galaxy Nexus for it's curved body, and it's surprising performance with a uncommon chipset. This is the only Android phone I've used that contains a Power VR GPU. While head to head in gaming the S3 still outpaces it but both the S3 and the Galaxy Nexus can't keep up with the gaming ability of an iPhone 4S all running the same game (NOVA 3). The side keys have great feedback even with a thick protective case over them.

The Gnex perhaps falls behind for two reasons, the TI Omap processor and the Power VR chipset which is very uncommon for Android phones. Older games run very well even with the 720p OLED display...

Other nice features are the subtle multicolor notification light and the rather quick camera that can capture full 1080p video.

The problem I have with it is that the phone is too quiet. Ringing is barely heard even over the volume output of my PlayStation Vita, during calls is also a problem. For a decent conversation you can hear, a headset is a must. That is my only problem with this phone. I enjoy it despite the lack of expandable memory storage but hearing my phone ring is rather important. The GS3 is no slouch to loudness in that department.

One minor issue is the software control keys on the display. Sometimes I will be typing and hit one of them by accident. It does grow on you after some time using it and does make for a sleek design, but it's something I can't leave out of a hands on experience.

Overall, I do like this phone despite it's issues. I get the latest from Google without waiting for carrier approval and it's a solid phone for everyday use that can be found cheap since those selling them may have picked up the Nexus 4 or another phone. It's comfortable to hold and use voice control with and works with any GSM carrier. No branding except for the Google name.

Pick one up if you want the latest updates to the Android OS and save a few bucks if you don't need to have the newest phone to impress others in public.

My galaxy nexus is getting heated up so quickly..
I think it is emitting high amounts of radiation(although SAR is 0.30 in spec). I think SAR is more than 1 for my phone. My ears do pain even if I talk for only 1 min. Anyone else having similar issues? Can I check the radiation of this phone by any means? Any help will be highly appreciated.. Thank u..
