Micro SD card obscelete? Not at the moment.

Another thing is, my region will never be selling a 64GB version, confirmed by our carriers here. Note.5 in most regions will only have 32GB, with ONLY some 26GB user accessibility.

Those agreeing with all of the limitations and less features, are so complacent that they're doing Samsung's job to sell more for LESS. That's what they want you to do - become renters, rather than owners of the device.

26GB limited for all your apps and media, with the awkward OTG dongle that some are suggesting is such a BIG consolation than having some extra 100GB+ of external card media storage for only $75.

It's like telling us 64GB laptop is ok WITHOUT external memory expansion. It's too silly. It's too much of a hipster to be relying on cloud services to do everything. Cloud is just only one avenue for important babckups. You have to get an ultra fast LTE service - and it's not available everywhere yet.

Leave your media at home? Another silly suggestion. I have 40GB+ of music, some 30GB of audio book, over 30GB of PDF books for my studies, and terabytes of TV shows and movies. I may not be able to store all of them onto a 128GB micro SD storage, I can certainly have about 10 TIMES more choices of entertainment or reading on the go with only my device to carry, and that extra battery just in case, THAN some measely 10GB+ worth after installing apps.

There's really no excuse of not including a micro SD card slot than the $5 to $15 settlement for every Android product with the slot to Microsoft. I don't mind that technology cost being carried on to me.

The latest SD card now is 512GB. Pretty soome 256GB for micro SD cards will be standard, I can still be able to slide that in with my device which has a slot by next year.

KinG, 20 Aug 2015Believe it or not, memory cards are now a thing of the past... moreTo KING:

I have a very reliable memory card from 2008. It was first used in a Nokia E51 then E71 then E73 then a Galaxy S2 i9100 and it's presently in my Galaxy S5 G900h. Not once has it ever failed, not once have I ever lost data and it has been snappy right through. After 7 years my memory card still works like a charm...so really and truly your comment don't make it. Come with a more sensible comment next time.

KinG, 20 Aug 2015Believe it or not, memory cards are now a thing of the past... moreYou're just blowing hot air without a clue of reality:

Micro SD cards will be a thing of the past when you don't find entire walls of Micro SD cards in stores anymore.

Removable storage of all kinds has been pronounced dead more times than I can count, with dilettante pundits ignoring that the need for archiving of data never does go away.

Now there are people who prefer to outsource their transportation, traveling by taxi, bus, train or plane only. Then there are those who prefer to have their own car.

Same goes for data archiving. The more knowledgeable people are, the more likely they will only use online storage as one of their back-ups, keeping at least two more, one in their bank deposit box and one at their house.

And they're not going to buy another phone for each backup :p

Say no to slots, 21 Aug 2015Sd slots are for noobs. No use other then media. It can't e... moreQuite the opposite.

With internal storage, you have the following problems:

                          - Limited by what the manufacturer thinks *most* people would be willing to pay for.
                          - a lot of writing media degrades the memory, better to have a card fail than your built in memory, which will require a very expensive board replacement.
                          - You can't take out internal memory and stick it into a slot at a print shop.
                          - If you have trouble connecting your phone to the computer (happens to a lot of people), you can just use the Micro SD card to move your data. That can alone can save your day on occasion.
                          - While traveling, you can carry multiple Micro SD cards for different purposes.
                          - If you shoot lots of video, there's no other way than multiple micro SD cards to hold all the footage until we get Terabyte level storage in our phones..
                          - if a Micro SD card goes bad, it doesn't affect your ability to use your phone, you just pull it out.

How can Samsung have so little clue about Note users...

No Micro SD card severely limits its usefulness.

I carry 40 GB of books, 20GB of music, a good bunch of videos and I generate architectural plans on it. Even if the phone had a terabyte of storage, I'd need those plans on a Micro SD card, so I can stick that into a slot at a print shop to get plans printed or photos developed.

Somehow, Samsung seems to believe all that people do on smart phones is manage a calendar and some scribbled napkin notes.

ITs because of that slot, Samsung have being releasing silly 16GB / 32GB phones for YEARS.. Thinking that "Oh.. its ok. theres the slot to save our ass".

And its because of that SLOT, they give an excuse ... oh oh.. build 64GB internal with sd slots no use.. as no demand.

I SAY NO to slots. Let us have massive internal storage instead.

Why not stick in 2x128gb cards i.e. a 256gb model the cards are cheap enough. These iPhone type storages where they charge huge amounts for upgrade in storage should be made illegal.

This phone is missing its 128GB version.. or at least in my country.. thats the only downfall.

WE NEED MORE Internal storage. NOT silly slots. Especially when our media collection has already exceed 2TB. To have random access to more then 2TB media.. whats a 128gb slot? SO SMALL... then the tons of issue of dupes.. sync.. copy .. delete .. i do not want to deal with that!

Just leave your media at home / NAS.. and do Port forwarding.. and have your media everywhere you go.. regardless of devices. And have the phone's internal storage solely for Apps!
