Samsung's new Note 8 video confirm the screen size as 6.4" (not 6.3"), also the Cameras are vertical NOT horizontal. @gsmarena

DNeighbor, 14 Aug 2017"glass is meant to expand with heating and that explains so... moreI'm still not sure they would go that low with their flagship.
I still believe the smaller battery with optimized settings recommendations is purely to avoid battery overheating which in turn could crack the all glass design OR bring about a repeat of the Note 7 problem.

Weeebooo, 14 Aug 2017well I also have a Sony phone, I cant tell what model it is... moreSure, my iPod (2006) is still working without battery bloating. However, I can consume up to more than 3GB daily, Hotspot for more than 3 hours at times, GPS when I need, stream live when I need to, or binge stream Netflix shows or music while working or commuting with my Note 3.
I find myself mobile, without an outlet convenience. Like right now, I have consumed 3200 mAh out of my 10,000 mAh extended battery in a span of 8.5 hours, with just over 5 hours SOT. That's like a full battery's worth for normal phones. While you struggle about carrying around a thicker power pack or looking for outlets every time, I'm enjoying a truly wireless experience.
All thanks to a removable battery system, I still have about 10 hour's worth of SOT, or battery till tomorrow if I am not able to charge tonight. Go enjoy your 4 hours of SOT.

DNeighbor, 11 Jan 2017And you're talking about your 6-year-old E7 with low RAM, l... morewell I also have a Sony phone, I cant tell what model it is but it has a non removable battery. I have had it for almost 5 years now, and usually use the phone for data streaming, I charge the phone regularly ( I can use the phone for like 3-4 hours web browsing ).. charge time is almost 2 hours. I cant remember the type/model but damn the thing is broken as hell, but still doesn't show any signs of battery damage, in fact the screen is half broke. my cousin dropped it and it broke to half but still working. the cover is also broken and the buttons are nowhere to be found (power button, volume button and camera button are all gone ) so, I really don't see any problem with the battery being removable or not. it depends on the person on how they care for there phone. and how they handle it.

AnonD-197784, 13 Aug 2017Of course 4000mAh would be ideal.
The problem is that th... more"glass is meant to expand with heating and that explains some S8+ cracking without any falling or impact"
How is that a proper design intent? The most obvious intent of why Samsung did all these is so the battery will degrade significantly via fast charging, wireless charging and frequent charging; and of course a slight drop of 3ft will crack the curved glass edges for an instant guarantee of the user getting a new one because changing a front panel means paying $220+. I checked for the cracked screen of my wife's S7 Edge.
I'm talking about the battery eventually curving OUTWARDS after over a year. It happens even in iPhones (go do your internet research). The battery can be punctured with the electronic parts inside, or even applying pressure in tight pockets.

No IR ? too bad, I don't want to buy an external IR plug for the phone, Note 4 will remain with me till Samsung remembers what IR was for.

DNeighbor, 13 Aug 2017Note8 with 3300 mAh battery,
Or Note8 with 4000 mAh batter... moreOf course 4000mAh would be ideal.
The problem is that the Note 8 already has 3300mAh battery. There's basically nothing we can do about it.
Although, I dont think anything more than 3300mAh will work on an all glass design; glass is meant to expand with heating and that explains some S8+ cracking without any falling or impact (some verified purchases on Amazon report cracking while in Otterbox cases)
Even if Samsung planned a bigger battery, the S8+ reviews would have made rethink that.
By the way like you mentioned; s8+ already recommends settings and compatibility modes to keep battery (and phone) from overheating - basically balancing settings and performance.

AnonD-197784, 12 Aug 2017They might end up having a software update to optimize the ... moreNote8 with 3300 mAh battery,
Or Note8 with 4000 mAh battery...
Which one would you think is better?
If "optimization" would just mean prohibiting apps from running and lowering the CPU/GPU, it will still use the same power amounts to connect o LTE/Wifi/GPS.

They might end up having a software update to optimize the battery like they did on the Note 5 with the Nougat update.
