spydee, 23 Jul 2015very good but there is no lolipop upgrade,please bring us l... moreI read it was getting lollipop update. But i just got update to kikat. In kitkat the battery lasts longer and ram is not used up alot. When i was on jellybean battery drained very quick. Nice tablet. More responsive since update.

Stop bashing yourselves mate.you have to options,its either you buy this device or you don't.if u bought,u have 2 options its either u like it and keep using it to a point b4 selling or giving it out or u discovered u don't like it and u sell it immediately after u bought it.
So,u either have it due to d fact dat u liked it and its good enuf for u,or u don't have it due to d fact dat u can't afford it or u don't like it enuf to actually buy.

Every tablet user I've seen uses their tablet mostly in landscape thus why most Android tablets are in a landscape design. Apple doesn't think about the user anymore. They lost their touch after jobs died and thus they are losing to Android for their ignorance.

Due to nobody's fault (Mahesh123), it has become more of an ipad vs note debate rather then just stick to talking about the note.
For those of you who have considered gsmarena's reviews to be good, kindly go through the ipad air vs note 10.1 2014 post here (scroll down a little, and it should be there below the note 10.1 2014 review). Instead of reading through wanna be reviewer's biased comments(no disrespect to those who posted honest and unbiased opinions), read through that and you might get a sense of which is best suited for you.

Everybody, know this.... no device, no OS is virus free!!! The simple fact is that viruses are codes created to target a specific OS. Generally the target OS will be one of the most used in the world. Because, higher the number of users, higher the number of devices being infcted. When Mac was released, it was brand new, so offcourse i cannot be infected since no virus existed for it. But they do now :D. Same goes for ios hehe :D.
Finally, Mahesh123, I cannot stop laughing at your comment coz of your notion that viruses can be transferred between android and ios.... viruses are OS specific mate, not sure what kind of a programmer you were without even knowing that.... oh well, i had a good laugh
P.S. The dude was talking about OTG, you know, On The Go feature of plugging in a flash drive to your smartphone and it recognizing the drive. Man, my stomach hurts :D

I have the original Note 10.1. How does this upgrade compare to the original? (which i am very happy with except for how the screen cracks when your kid drops it on tiles and the $300 Samsung are charging to fix it)
PS I also have original ipad and ipad air. WhileIi can appreciate the quality of the IOS product, I still prefer Android for the simple reason that I can do anything I want with my Android devices and IOS is so limiting. OTG being the most obvious example! So to those who say once you try IOS you'll never want to back to Android, that's absolutely untrue.
When Apple make OTG standard for their devices is when I MIGHT consider changing over.

I like the way you mentioned to the point.
I will add few more with my 17 Months usage experience.
Pros:
-Screen resolution is 2560 x 1600 pixels which is excellent, and brightness is adequate for daylight usage
- this is lightweight
- Multi window operation
Cons:
- Pen is too difficult to use practically. touch buttons at bottom are big hindrance
- Non Customizable scratch pad
- Battery is pathetic, discharges in couple of hours. Charge time >> Drain time.
- Need high current charger, cant be charged using small chargers
- Other issues are mostly related to Android OS.

1yr owner here.
Pros: Love the pen esp when youre tired of tapping.
Great display, responds well to touch.
camera is awesome.
Word & excel files can be edited, but is not that user friendly (for me). pdf files can easily be opened.
Cons: tab is heavy, but this is a 10.1 tab so expect it.
bloatware galore.
But this is the thing that turns me off the most: 12hrs charging time for a full charge = 5hrs of playing games like coc.
Do the math. U decide.

They will have the words like very good, excellent performance, No lag. Talk about Battery-drain & charging time, User Interface, Pen usage, camera. If you have used other tablets how's side by side comparison. Practical problems of the device. If you have not touched any other gadget then story is different. Dont impose conclusions let Buyer's decide, based on merit and demerits.

I have being using this device since Dec 2013 and I have never encountered any form of issue(s) or lag(s).so its either some users are being bias ,dumb, stupid,ignorant,or just crazy.probably they r paid to bash other products and antagonize other people.
IMHO,leave such loosers and mentally unstable self deluded people alone.let them keep fooling themselves in the name of commenting on products they don't even have.#peace#oneluv

Just lifeless feelingless Piece of hardware/software, ok! understand my intent is not to hurt people, But make Buyers aware what are pros & Cons.
I am not an advocate of apple products but after using so many devices I feel that apple products are built keeping in mind how users are intending to use a device.
I gave the example of camera since I practically experienced it. Taking a picture using note : Perfect in daylight, clicked in low light inside the room.got Non acceptable performance But some Settings enabled to get the right pic. Next time I click using Note I need to remember what settings got me the pic. Believe me apple device dont have any settings but you get perfect Pic you go in any light. and same performance every time.
Second example attach Pic with mail. Ios will ask you small/medium/large and pic size will be adjusted ,I dont need any compression. I am not talking of a feature but about how os understands the behaviour & usage.
I am not saying note is useless junk but will say it didn't catch the intent of usage. Why one would buy note?, I think pen is the USP. But when you start using pen the touch Keys hinder it. So the unique feature is already killed. I cant imagine how stupid was that design. Second if pen is the USP, the scratchpad (or notes) should be customisable A4, A3..... user sizes. But you get only one format. Honestly I brought Note so that I can avoid keeping a Notepad during my testing & debugging in lab/meetings. But unfortunately using note was practically impossible, strugling every time to find a setting to accomodate my requirement. Finally gave up. My Note is just for entertainment , check mails . So if that was the only purpose I Brought this device for ,then ipad does the job much better. I have already spoken about Battery issue. Now my action memo doesn't work. oTG doesn't work. why this device is so unreliable.
you & others may debate with me to any extent but a Note is not a Note for me unless I can take notes on it.

Guess its not over. Very good mahesh, that is an honest and very reasonable opinion. since you didn't get it the first time, let me point it out in as simple words as possible. when two devices are compared head to head, you compare the hardware and performance. the second you starting talking about android vs ios or their user interfaces, it becomes a matter of preference and opinion. You prefer ios, i prefer android and the reasons for our preferences need no justification. However, just because you prefer ios and ipad, you have no right to call android or this device crap or junk. You say you are no expert, but even an expert wont call a device carp or junk. But you did, hence this whole pointless debate. You say you dont want to go into ISO settings (etc) when taking a picture, i say i do to, but also would like to have the manual settings option as a feature as well, which i use frequently. Am i wrong or are you wrong? neither of us is wrong, since its our individual preference. Finally, speaking of etiquette, in your previous comments, apart for calling this device to be junk again and again, you also mentioned that people who buy this device would be wasting their money. You said it twice, and that my friend is an insult to all those who have bought or rated or reviewed this product. Thats the start of it all. still think you have the right to use the word "etiquette"?

In that sense Note is most crappy device I have used. I am not an iPad fan, but somehow using iPad seems to be much easier than Note. Given a choice Note , iPad and Surface at same price, I would surely pick Surface. I want tablet with a pen but should be practical to use.

This is response to all the those who didnt like someone talking about negatives of galaxy Note 10.1. First of all there should be some etiquette of commenting in a forum. We are not here to talk a slum language. we are talking about gadgets, so please be respectful.
Coming to IOS vs Android, or iPad vs Note. 'Note', may be much better in terms of hardware tech specs, but coming to software and user interface iPad is much better. User experience is what matters. Second, am I a programmer/coder, it doesnt matter, I am here to use my device for assisting me not for wasting my time figuring out deep embedded fancy feature. You may say, I am dumb, I am fine with that. I 100% agree I am not the most intelligent creature on earth.
If I am taking a picture my intent is to get the best one, I dont want to goto ISO, brightness, Contrast ,day/night etc settings. Pen is a nice feature in Note but is it usable I doubt.
if you ask my preferred list of devices(tablets) It would be Surface,iPad and then Note.
