AnonD-485965, 07 May 2016Dude i received MM update....and to be specific i was talki... moreMost phone may be considered as outdated (quote from someone), after, maybe, 2 years.
Samsung have already did update from v4 to v5 to v6 which is good enough.
Who knows that Samsung have plan for Note Edge 2 which would replace Note Edge.
There is a need to understand on what & how software update could improved on 'ancient' electronic components.
For example, for Note 3, the v4.3 (original) can be upgradable to v5.0. There is no mentioned on Note 3 to update to v6.
So Note Edge able to update to v6 is the best and final version, maybe.
This do not means that after >2 years you cannot use the phone.
Even some are still using Note 2 after >4 years and no update to v5.
    There is a limit.

This is the very 1st Note Edge, as others may be trying to copy, yet.
quote "Note edge is outdated in terms of software".
Then why do Samsung is releasing Android version 6.
Not many other models, of about the same age, are yet to release or even mentioned about updating to Android version 6. The word "out dated" is determine by each individual opinion, not official statement.

Think i might have to stay with note edge as i like to have spare batteries just incase i run out. I wish they would bring removable batteries back in thier new models. I was looking forward to note 6. It will come with sd support which is good. But non removable battery. And i read it cost alot to have battery replaced.

blonde, 02 May 2016How long will.a non removable battery last? I mean in terms... moreAs many rechargeable battery manufacturer do indicate that it can recharge up to 500 times.
If say, every day required charging, this means by 500 days,
Then battery would able to recharge >500 times, but the battery power may be lacking. So give and take, it would be about 2 years or longer.
Manufacturer may not like to extend, as it would eat into their profit and survival.
Phone Manufacturer themselves are business that required profit.

AnonD-485965, 01 May 2016My word of saying was, Note edge is outdated in terms of so... moreMost brand will support s/w for at least up to 2 years old.
By then, the phone would able to use for a few more years.
There is 1 most important thing to take note.
Most brand will release the same series on model yearly; ex S4 -> S5 > S6 > S7....
Every new series, new features will be added.
This is business operation, and if not, the brand will be ceased to exist.
Also, most ISP do have contract for 2 years, include 1st year on warranty.

Another Business style of operation is fixed battery, non-removable; for 2 reasons.
                              1. Many old & existing models with removable battery, this give work for battery manufacturer.
                              2. Non-removable battery do have its own advantages.
2.1. This is to avoid imitation battery which may damaged some components inside the phone, as it do explode while charging &or using; as reports from newspaper.
2.2. Non-removable battery give business to those "Power bank" manufacturers.

This is all about business and turnover on profits.

There is a reasonable on why it is like this.
That is if not, the apps will started if accidentally touch for right-handed users.
