I have used this device for more than an year now. My take on this - Good things -1. Screen large enough to make reading documents, e mails, watching videos etc very comfortable. 2. Battery life is good - but if you know how to customize the phone. Plenty options available- like juice defender which work well. 3. Very customizable - especially if u r a geek, if you root your phone and install custom ROMs. I did all this and tweaked it to some extent. But quickly got bored with it.
Not good- 1. Build very plasticky. not in league with HTCs/ iPhones/ Lumias. 2. Too much customization is a double edged sword. With custom ROMs, many wallpapers and apps behaved differently. Also too much customization- u get bored with a ROM in no time and want another better looking one- for me those ROMs which looked good didn't behave well and those working very well didn't have a polished look. 3.Too many apps without strict quality control. many working well for others didn't work for me.
So now this is a standby phone. iPhone 5 is my regular phone now and am happy with it. OS is very smooth, polished and user friendly. All apps I use work as intended. Less threat of viruses than android. Happy with it at present.

AnonD-77443, 15 Jul 2013Just did a reboot and the media server battery drain has co... moreI am still having a problem with "media" draining my note 2 battery. The only way i can stop it is to go to settings > battery > media and select force stop.
Every time i reboot i need to do this... hopefully Samsung gets their act together and fixes this on the next firmware.
ps, if you don't have a lot of files on your sd card you wont really notice this problem.

vishu, 15 Jul 2013how to updates to 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 pls pls reply frids Put atm card in bank machine and withdraw some cash and replase note 2 with s4 or wai8 for note 3, now that is the only way to update 4.1.2 to 4.2.2, nice game Samsung.

If anyone has this problem and knows a fix please let me know.
I think part of the problem is that i have a lot of files on my sd card... the syncronisation is taking a long time which chews the battery.

To anyone having problems with battery drain caused by the media server on the note 2.....
Having suffered this for 3-4 days i think i have found the solution. I uninstalled Viber and re-installed it and my battery drain has virtually stopped. It has been going an hour now and has only used 1% compared with 10-15% before. :-)
Another option was to reformat your sd card and reload the files. I didn't try this as i literally have 500,000 files on my sd card with my mapping apps. I have seen posts of people who say this doesn't work.

yes,my sgn2 is running at 4.1.2jb out of the box.but what should I do to resist the heavy fall of my device's memory?also the images are getting stored to both my device' memory and sd card's memory.what should I do for this? I've also restricted my device's applications background data in the application mansger setting.but the problem still persists.plz plz plz plz plz friends help me with every detail.thanks in advance

I bought my note 2 15 days ago. Initially my battery backup was also about a day, now after heavy usage( min 3 hours of calling, around 30 txt msgs, Listen to music for couple of hours, play games for half an hour, gmail, facebook, watsapp, skyp and google hangout synced, few min of internet browsing and 24 hours mobile data on.....) I am still left with 45%-55% of battery at the end of the day. Love this monster mobile.

In relation to your battery, 7 hours continuous use for 75% drain is ok if you are doing a heap of 2G browsing. At this rate you are getting over 9 hours of continuous use...... the only phone available that may better this is a Razr.
Your other option is to buy a spare battery and charger of ebay ($20) and you can use your phone forever.

Battery life will definitely improves after 4 to 5 charging cycles(Charge the battery and discharge fully before charging again).
If you are still finding any issues try to do a factory reset.
