Anonymous, 09 May 2012You sound too optimistic,I advice you to visit the XDA Deve... more"Samsung is no Apple when it comes to FW updates". You have got to be kidding me. Apple ruined my perfectly good iPod Touch 2G with their horrible iOS 4.0. It now lags almost as badly as my old Nokia 5233. Its so pathetically slow, I can't even rapidly go to the next song.

Just because Apple updates their devices for 2 years doesn't make them good. Its way easier for them to do so because in two years, the mobile products they make can be counted on one hand (I'll do it now, 1 iPod Touch, 2 iPhones, and 2 iPads).

Spoks, 09 May 2012have you ever noticed a lag when the phone is in idle mode ... moreSometimes there is a rather annoying lag when waking up the screen, but that just happens to me occasionally. The entire OS is a little slow and laggy compared to the S2, but its not much of an annoyance. The touch response however is very accurate. If there is a problem in yours you can test it by typing in *#0*# in your dialer to enter the testing screen. Check and see if the touchscreen test works fine or not. If it is off by a few millimeters, take it to an authorised service centre. I'm sure they could recalibrate it.

AnonD-25258, 09 May 2012Have you got it on power saving mode.. Thats slows it right... moreMy friend S2 is also in a Power Saving Mode... but still its fast...

Otterbox has at long last came out with their heavy-duty anti-shock casings:

                  http://m.otterbox.com/samsung-galaxy-note-cases/samsung-galaxy-note-cases,default,sc.html

About time! But the prices are quite high with $45 for the Commuter series, and $60 for the Defender series. But the pricing here in the Philippines for them are higher at $65 (Php2800) and $85 (Php3600) respectively. They will start coming to outlets this May.

Last month, I came across probably the best protection casing available for the Note (until the Otterbox sites really come out) for only $9 at a local store. It's not branded, with an inner silicon layer that has thick corners, and an outer thick hard plastic at the back. Check how it looks:

                  http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/janeilarlegui/7167594526/

I got the last set at the Games & Gadget branch at SM Dasmariñas. The design is better than the Otterbox Commuter series, but does not have a front plate like the Defender series. I accidentally dropped my Note for the first time from a table while waiting for my wife. It fell to the ground on its corner, but thanks to the thick corner design, it bounced and rested on the hard secondary plastic cover. Whew!

I hate to imagine if dropped the Note without the casing. I'm thinking of getting a casing that is waterproof as well, since I live in a region with a rainy season. Know any?

If your phone is lagging then go into settings and check out your running services in applications. turn off what ur not using, and remember even the keyboard uses alot of RAM so switching to swype keyboard for a couple of hours and then back to ur natural keyboard reduces the RAM by a ver large amount. Let me know if i'm on the right track ppl.
