Is this phone for morbidly obese people with large pants and large pockets?

Well if it's too expensive, then I'll just wait for the next 5inch phone/tablet from other manufacturer. I am sure NOKIA, LG, MOTOROLLA, ACER (HTC lacks in internal memory of their Android gadgets)SONY, ZTE, HUAWEI will think of something. I don't mind buying other brands. The most important thing is the processing speed and the operating smoothness. Brand name is nothing. Just because Galaxy note is a phone and a tablet, it doesn't means it has to be sold at higher price. In the meantime, I just use my SGSII as my phone and a mini tablet.

Or I will wait for a few months until the price drops. Good luck Samsung.

DELL - Where is your GINGERBREAD update for your DELL 5? Upgrade it, I don't have to think of getting the SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE.

                                Oh ... I just realized something ...

SAMSUNG did a very great job in hiding this device till IFA 2011. No one saw this coming. It wasn't even expected by anybody.

CONGRATULATION SAMSUNG ... to all the staffs of R&D and Marketing!

I hope we won't wait too long and that the price will be less than $800 sim free ... ;-)

it's a phone a mini tablet and a notepad mixed in one helluva device, not to mention the 8MP hd camera and super amoled plus screen. Nice Sammy.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2011This 5.3 inches 1280x720 screen will become standard in the... moreIMO 5.3 is too much, even though as you said smaller phones are too little for actual web-browsing, taking notes, yet too big for being actual phones.

To me the absolute max for a smartphone screen is 4.8 inches, as long as it is of 16:9 aspect and has NO (or minimal) bezel... OLED screens have minimal need for a bezel I still don't understand why it is being used so heavily in those phones

That's the ONLY way to keep a phone UNDER 2.35in (60mm) in width(which IMO is the absolute max for a device to be called trully portable/ a phone)... Also an 720p (1280x720) resolution would be trully welcome as it would raise the phone's pixel quantity to "retina display" standards (300 PPI/DPI).

The point is -of course- that techonology is nowhere near there for the time being and I expect that we would need another two years for mini-diplay tech to catch up with this "dream" (as I described above). Still Kudos to Samsung for reaching closest to it by giving us the 2 out of 3 of those features (big display, HD resolution)...

[deleted post]Agree ... too expensive ... $800 as a starting price would be acceptable!

We must not forget that the $ is in a very awful shape!!!
