M.B, 26 May 2022Camera has some malfunction. I'm not sure why is it ha... moreDon't worry it is not a malfunction
It is how these cameras work in any smartphone

The point is telephoto camera has a longer focal length to bring objects closer but this results in less amount of light to pass through lens.
Telephoto is mostly used in daylight or enough artificial light.

Whereas the Wide lens allows more light in any situation.

So it is clear, in good lighting conditions, phone switches easily between wide and telephoto
Whereas in low light, it will use Wide lens for zoom.
Because if it uses telephoto, the result will be darker and noisy image.

When you cover telephoto with finger, it switches automatically to wide and if the phone finds wide lens to be able to capture good image, it will not switch back to telephoto in that scene.

Basically phone judges itself with its software and AI.

Yeah all these 3 phones are great
S20 FE 5G is a bit older right now
S21 FE and A52s are new, they'll be eligible for additional software updates
But you may consider any as per the best price you get

Yeah I would definitely grab a tempered glass protector.

Currently I'm also considering the A52s and S21 FE.

Camera has some malfunction. I'm not sure why is it happening it might be 'normal' but I highly doubt it. There are three cameras on it, the top one is Ultra-wide (12mp 0.5x), middle is wide (12mp 1x) and the bottom is telephoto (8mp 3x).

Out of curiosity, I want toggling through the cameras on the app covering the camera lens with my finger to confirm which one is which.

The issue is with the bottom camera, when I tap 3x it switches to the telephoto camera, and then whenever I cover it with my finger, it automatic switches to the wide camera with 3x zoom. It maintains the 3x zoom but switches to the wide camera.
When I remove the finger, it does not switch back to the telephoto camera. Many times it DOES NOT even activate the bottom camera when I tap 3x.

Is it supposed to be this way? Or maybe it is autojudging the scene and choosing the best camera itself?

i bought one case online and a temperred glass as well.
it has gorilla glass 3 only so protection is needed.

Really would be interesting to try this phone 📱 but that camera bump is seriously gross looking. What was Samsung thinking of lol

Guess the S21 FE is a better choice for me, if I can get one for a decent discount. Otherwise the A52s 5G is a contender.

The use is with 4G/5G? or Wifi, because if with 4G/5G, every smartphone should use more battery to handle the use, but if with Wifi, it's problem. In this case, you must make a Factory Reset and everything should be ok. For me, i have an impressible batteyr life, but i use it with wifi, if i am out i use 3G+ instead of 4G.

Need suggestions. I have a new s20 fe 5g updated at One ui 4.1. Battery seems impressive at standy and off screen. But drops like hell while browsing or using social media. I barely get 5 hrs screen on time with light use of just social media & dark mode implemented. No games, no music, no calls, no blue tooth etc. Setting are at auto brightness, refresh rate at 60hz. Please guide how battery life can be improved

I bought this phone in march and it's already at samsung repair center. It stop working suddenly. The display started to flash and became green and blue. I was unable to shut it down and/or restart it. It is the first samsung phone i have and it will be the last. Once it will be repair i will try to sell it. I will simply switch back to my old phone (LG G6) wich i did not have any problem since i owned it (2018).
