I still can't believe after almost 5 years this is the only Samsung phone with 16GB RAM option. Back then when Samsung cared about their customers.

Original-Jamaican, 25 Nov 2024Good day. Thank you for responding.
I don't think ... moreThat not burn in but Black Crush issue, happen on some Amoled Smartphone including Xiaomi (Mi 11 Lite) Asus etc, somehow it is caused by software issue but for now it is hardware issue so the best way to avoid it by replacing the screen since somehow you can even get vertical lines issue
I would say this: samsung itself produce several variation part for difference OEM so you can’t say they use the same part number like Huawei and Samsung and Apple since Samsung Display company is difference from Samsung Mobile company, Samsung Display is producing many different product for many OEM including LCD or OLED and the internal mainboard design and configuration also gives effect for how the heat is well ventilated and not damage the screen ribbon and panel since nowadays smartphone is slimmer but chipset is hotter

viper-dgs, 25 Nov 2024Sounds you have screen burning in it. Is the most common is... moreGood day. Thank you for responding.
I don't think it's screen burn in because I only see it when it comes to black/very dark areas in photos/videos.
It's not seen on dark mode screens or even the dark wallpaper with the silver bubbles (default wallpaper).
My always on display is enabled but it's set to show ONLY when I touch the screen so that's not an issue.
I was told by someone that my screen issue has to do with how Samsung calibrated the screen and that may be true because even GSMArena spoke about some abnormalities with the S24 Ultra dark screens in their official review.
My Huawei P9 Plus which uses a Samsung Amoled screen has no burn in and now dark patches in black/dark areas. It's picture perfect even AFTER 7 years of ownership. Huawei did a great job in calibrating that Samsung panel.
Seems like Samsung needs to work out their quirks.

And if you stick with Samsung STOP using the always on display/notifications, you'll burn the screen in no time again.

Overheating on the phone, poor battery life, the screen even went blank (seems to be a known issue of the S20 Ultra), the back of the phone came off entirely, the glue the use it's the cheapest.
I had enough of Samsung, after more than 17 years using them, I move to Xiaomi, no complains and they cost less than half the price of Samsung.
My impecable S20 Ultra is now sitting in the drawer of my desk, a $900.00 phone...incredible.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G SM-G988U1 and I always see shadows/grains/artifacts in dark areas of the screen especially when the brigthness is very low. It was purchased in September of this year (2024) labelled as a new model.
Grains:
With the default wallpaper out of the box, the black and white one with the big silver bubbles, when I touch the Recent Apps soft key I see a lot of grains in the background, however I must admit the icons and so forth all have proper colour accuracy and they are all clear.
Shawdows/Artifacts:
Photos - When viewing photos in the gallery eg. black hair on someones head, I can see shadows, black patches, artifacts (whatever you want to call it) in some parts of the hair.
Video: When watching a video, eg. someone in black clothing walking, shadows can clearly be seen every step of the way.
I have tried a few suggestions but nothing completely works. For the shadows in hairs, clothing, screen corners etc. I switched the display from Natural to Vivid and adjusted the lever to cool and vice versa...that didn't work.
For the Recent Apps situation with the background grain, going to Accessibility>Visibility>Reduce Transparency and Blur works even though it makes the background look dull but at least the grain is gone once that toggle is on BUT it still doesn't remove the shadow from people's hair etc. so something is still amiss. The fact that the Accessibility method works to an extent, this tells me these issues are more likely software related than hardware related.
Can anybody give me solid suggestions to make my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra screen look the way it is supposed to? I never had these problems with my previous Galaxy S series like the S2, S5 etc. Thank you all for reading.
Regards.

I still use this phone and I'm very happy with it! I like the processor, camera, ram and battery of it the most. What I don't like is that it didn't get the update of android 14 and one ui 6.0. If you want a good performance phone for the price, I recommend this one

Lhanz, 01 Sep 2024Hello! Good day! May I ask any of your expert opinion on ho... moreThe back cameras often get blurry, maybe moisture is getting in, not sure, my wide angle in particular occasionally gets blurry after several months... it can also be other lens too... one time I got the back glass "cleaned"... think they took it apart, cleaned it, then back together... another time they replaced the back panel... not the cheapest fix, but both options cleared things up.

Bill, 09 Sep 2024Hi every one I have s20 ultra 5g and suddenly 2 line appear... moreHow? Sell and get rid of your phone quickly since the lines will not stop and will have more in future time, your display is already damaged and must replace the whole display which not cheap, so who got this phone and still in normal state, just sell and get rid of this phone quicklu before the lines show up or the secondhand price will drop much lower up to 80% from first time launching price

Hey, sorry if I am too late, but those 2 lines are most likely damage to the screen but it couldnt have appeared on its own in any way
