So is the back as scratch resistent as corning glass ? I am not much of a heavy user; just call, facebook, messenger and I will use dark mode all the time. Will the battery last a day ? I am really concerned about this because it doesnt have fast charing like oneplus or xiaomi. The plus version has better battery but it is larger though.

Iv used afew flagships lately but mostly from bigger brands apple,Sony samsung so I can't speak for them all but it's fair to say this fits comfortably into the flagship range in both quality and support. I think it's a good purchase what would you recommend in place of this at this price range?

Regarding the overheating issue I see raised, is anyone using this with a rugged case? Like an Otterbox or similar? I would think that would make overheating more of an issue.
Thanks!

GSMA added S21 to a Flagship Killer category :-) Not worthy as a flagship, despite the price.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2021This or oneplus 8 pro? Actually, personal preference. Both are really capable phones, but the OP8Pro does have a glass back and a stronger haptic motor. But with OnePlus ruining their last-gen phones by software updates, it is to be taken into consideration that OP8Pro won't hold for long. On the other hand, Samsung gives 4 years of updates (three android versions, and one year of security updates). Personally, I felt that S21 has a better overall camera, more consistent and the customer support from Samsung is top-notch (except when there is an issue that they cannot fix). And if you're a person who likes smaller phones, S21 is your goto choice. And it has an excellent battery life too. Also, I'd choose Samsung over any Chinese brands, because the way they manage to cut cost is by removing things that give you all those moemntary convinience features, which Samsung does not remove. Plus, Samsung DeX is amazing. You really don't need a computer if you have DeX (for day-to-day productivity use, though). At the end of the day, it's what you think you need and I'd definitely recommend the S21 over the OP8Pro. But don't take my word for it, try the two phones, reseach extensively and then choose.

Advice Needed, 10 Jun 2021Hi, I've been using a Huawei Mate 10 Pro, having issue... moreI am a sony fan and I had several over the years but xp 5ii and 1 ii as well have signal problems both wifi and network. The internet is full of complains. I was eyeing 5ii too but the updates didn't solve the issue. So probably you should do some research on s21 it might be a better choice rn. Good signal is paramount for a phone

The reason I went with the S21 is because of its well-polished status. For one, its a mainstream flagship, that is always a status. And secondly, it had no unexpected faults. So I can buy that without being anxious of any future problem. Well, mine will be arriving within the week, will post my impressions as well.

Thomassino, 10 Jun 2021Thanks for your response Azazeal! I've seen many revi... moreNo not at all the exy version runs ever so slightly hotter than the snapdragon version. But it's well within reason and far better cooling than most other flagships I have used. remember these are amazingly capable chipsets. And those samsung engineers are wizards. Alot of people online want it to run like an ice machine that's unfortunately not how this works as you know. I think they get worried that a little heating means damage when of course it doesn't.

So after two years of using shitty phones, I finally upgraded to the latest that Samsung has to offer. Thank God!
Bought the S21 for USD 640 . But I'm bewildered now. Initial plan was to buy the S20 FE 5G, as great as a phone it may seem, it came with the very problems that I've been fretfully waiting to be rid of. Numerous (it was a hell lot more than I expected ) buyers complained about the phone having 'ghost touch' issues, for which Samsung released a lot of patches. Yet it did not solve the problem, for most tho. Then there was that off-axis color shift to the display and pretty weak haptics(weaker than S21 lol). Also the camera quality wasn't as good as the S21, especially in low light. The 25W charging was apparently broken too. To be the last piece on the board, the price wasn't all that different too. The S20 FE 5G costed USD 544 , just hundred dollars cheaper, which is not too much.
Now the obvious differences, S21 came with a 5nm processor, almost bezelless screen (its a marvel to look at, visibly smoother too), way better design and better overall specs. Well, these differences are not worth 100 USD, but factor in all those problems that the S20 Fe had, I thought that the S21 is a better buy considering the fact that its a pretty rock solid phone giving you all the features that you need. (and that one year of extra software upgrade)
To my knowledge, smartphones have also stopped evolving like they used to. No major differences between the flagships of this year and last year (im talking about the ultra), and the smartphone features seem pretty saturated, so for the next 2-3 years, they aren't gonna change much(except for Under Panel Cameras, tho).
So is my purchase justified or did I commit a huge blunder? Will I have to upgrade in a couple of years?
P.S.: I'm upgrading from a shitty 2017 mid-range.
Damn happy with the camera performace of S21, they made it better through software updates ig.
