The comment about Mi10U was mainly because of 1.4µm pixel size in 2x camera. That should help with low light photography. If it is poorly implemented that's a different story.
The sensor in N20U resembles one in iPhone 12 Pro - 12 MP 1.0µm. Apple does not use it for night mode. I guess pixel size is not enough (high SNR?) and/or stabilization is weak on the lenses size. At 5x it should be even harder to implement hand-held night mode.
Anyway, I don't want to see such zoom sensor in S21. 1.0µm is not cool for 12MP. On the other hand this 64MP replacement has not made things better either.
Also, the bump on N20U is horrendous. Worst thing I've seen. Even stupid bump on iPhones is better.

No more curved screen
Same battery capacity as S20
Same camera as S20
Same insane flagship price
Who in his right mind will buy S21...?
Even S10 is preferable as S21.
I will keep my S20 for at least one more year...

I have a s10e with FHD display ... moreeither way u r viewing a super high res video, be it 1080p or 1440p, it wont look good on either. 4K on ultra would mean u would have to sacrifice refresh rate down to 60hz otherwise the battery would run out in a snap. i don think 8K is good idea on phones, they can leave that to Cinema cameras or professional cameras like RED and others. 4k 60fps was perfect, 4K 120fps was also good, but 8K, bad move. if they want 8K video on a phone, they might as well put a 4K screen on it or view it on a 4K - 8K tv/monitor

I have a s10e with FHD display and a friend of mine has s10 plus with 1440p and i can see the diference betwin them . His phone quality looks better than mine. I buy s10e because of his size , i don t trade for a bigger phone because i don t like bigger phones. But that is not the point , the point is that i can see the diference betwen 1440p and 1080p . Yes FHD is ok for people who buy low and medium price smartphones . But when you have FHD on a flagship it is not ok .This smartphone can record 8k video and an 8k video played on a fullhd is not ok . A client who has s10 or s20 will never buy s21 with a lower resolution .
In my opinion s21 and s21 plus should have 1440p and ultra 4k .

i don't have good knowledge in photography but i am wondering... is it possible to remove ALL noise from a photo? would that even look good?

I don't get your reasons for praising Mi 10 Ultra 2x zoom. I forced myself to go read its review and look at the samples: it's detail loss at 2x is terrible at daylight, becoming totally unusable at night. Night Mode changes it from "OMG awful" to "just bad". Main camera has significant detail loss at daylight too. Ultrawide night performance is as bad as 2x zoom. The only impressive camera there is 5x tele: it somehow manages to keep good photo quality at night, adding just some reasonable noise.

The Covid-19 Pandemic forced Samsung to downgrade some features which they believed it won't affect the final experience.
They know how to handle their finances and want to still exist in the future so they had to make compromises. It's just a year on ice.

Hybrid zoom is computational so I wouldn't think it would have nice quality in the first place.
At 3x it should have 7MP source data which is then turned into 12MP image.
At 2x it should have 16MP data which at night should be 4-to-1 joined into 4MP data that is likely again upscaled to 12MP image.
Someone tho has mentioned that in 1-2x zoom range the main wide camera is used for zooming, so the image may have been made from 3MP source data.
To me it seems that a way to use this 2nd wide camera is to
- forget about digital zoom completely
- manually switch to 64MP shooting mode when you need more data, shoot at 1x
- manually crop if you want to have image without any excessive computational changes and upscaling/downscaling
- forget about 2nd 64MP wide camera at night, I guess it will try to upscale 16MP binned image back to 64MP
Quite a hassle.
As for the last part about using real optics,
I think Mi 10 Ultra has the most advanced 12MP 1.4µm 2x "zoom" out there. But when the main wide sensor on S20/S21 has 1.8µm pixels, you can see that at least part (1.28x) of such "zoom" comes from crop (using smaller sensor). Also Mi10U is +1.6mm thick. This gives them room to put more glass for remaining 1.55 optical zoom.
I wonder if Samsung could have put at least 1.2µm 12MP 2x zoom there.

There is already a significant loss of detail in the claimed 3x zoom photos in the daylight (grass, tree branches). And low-light zoom is unusable even at 2x: building wall texture and phone booth is a mess on the 2x low-light samples.
That's what you get for "hybrid" zoom by cropping 64M small low-sensitive pixels, instead of using real optics.

SON GOKU, 06 Jan 2021Also, people say a 1080p display is a downgrade even though... moreno u dont need to go on amazon or any store, we already have USB-C cables in our homes since we all use phones with USB-C (well most of us) so we don't have to freak out. even when apple took out their charger, apple user already had lightning ports, well idk about android user switching to apple. the thing apple should have done is give first time apple users a lightning cable and that's it. a USB-A to lightning is what they should have given but then again u can just buy third party cables for either lightning or USB-C so very two sided situation
