As an Exynos version (256/8) Holder of this phone for almost 2 years now. This phone is perfect, as my previous phone was an S10 Plus (Exynos 128/8), I'd say the 120hz and More performance is a boost only downgrade surely is the removal of headphone jack, sd card , plastic back, along with badly optimized telephoto and wide angle cameras. Surely finding a case and screen protector locally for this phone is difficult. The updates and performance isn't an issue for me. But Battery life is surely an issue... Thanks for reading

I bought s21fe sd888 in October. Till march security update the phone was running well with minimum heating and good battery backup. After the update it now heats up a lot with minimal use and consumes significant battery. Also i noticed the adaptive battery option is gone from battery settings. Anybody else facing the same issue? Any solutions?

I'm planning to buy this phone (2nd hand) this month.
Is this still worth buying this year?

GalaxyKingChampionMD, 27 Mar 2024Dont buy this phone if ur getting exynos version. Get a55 i... moreIt's funny you say this because most people advise the opposite, to get an older flagship over any new mid ranger.
Snapdragon>exynos/mediatek any day of the week

I've the Exynos version & don't play games on it as I've the Samsung tab for that purpose. I mainly use it for YouTube videos, music, browsing, cameras, Whatsapp calls etc & I've never felt any sort of overheating yeah it does get warm while using for longer hours like any other device but nothing weird. Mine still has 5 months of warranty left as it's a 2023 model and I hope to use it for couple of years or more as it'll be getting major updates till Android 16.

Received March security update in India.

So that is the opinion of the a55, you can choose what you want, tis just a guide

its a smurf, 28 Mar 2024How is not getting an SD variant a good thing exactly? If ... moreAs someone with both S21 FE (Sd variant) and A55 (Exynos) (Both phones I have are 8/256) let me tell you my side of the story.
The A55 is slower than the FE, yes, but the variation only really differs when you're playing games, like heavy gaming such as cod mobile or bgmi
Reason for that is because Exy 1480 is such a new SoC, that games arent yet optimised for the a55. In a month or so, they will be.
Otherwise the A55 performance difference is not very visible compared to the S21FE, when using android 14. Sure, apps may take another couple ms to load, or the load would be higher, or some more ram management, but really, day to day the performance difference, if youre a regular person isnt that much honestly.

Now talking about the cameras. This actually will be a tie, both cameras are great in their own rights.
With the main cameras, the difference isnt very noticeable, both are great stunning photos in both good and low light, but i'd say the FE captures more light and better sharpness.

Speaking of the ultrawide cams, the A55 actually gets this one.
The S21FE photos on the UW are more fuzzy, a little hazier than the A55. Theyre good nonetheless. A55 is sharp and clear in good lighting, whereas in nightmode the S21 gets this one because of its ISP and its better light capture, nothing seems overexposed. I'd give this a draw.
I won't really talk about macro cameras since they depend on a lot of variables.

The display now. I'd give this a tie as well, yes the FE has 2X Dynamic Amoled, but the super amoled in the a55 is great as well. HDR10+ screen, 120Hz refresh rate, actually look at the phones side by side, there's little to no difference. Both phones win this category.

Now onto the battery, i feel quite ashamed about the S21FE battery performance.
Either its the optimisation of the A55 or that it has 5000 mAh compared to the 4500 on the FE, but the A55 BLOWS it out of the water.
Usually i get 6-7 hrs on my s21fe, which is solid for a phone this old (i bought it a few months ago brand new), but my A55 lasts 9-10 hours on a full charge, more than enough to last a day and then some. Even using 120Hz, the A55 just crowns this comparison.I'd be willing to bet the A55 battery is even better than the Exy S24.

Now onto design and feel, the A55 wins this one.
Not saying the s21fe is bad build quality, its just personally in my hand the A55 is heavier, not too heavy to become a brick, but heavy enough to feel premium, better than the S21's plastic back. Sure the a55 doesnt have wireless charging, but would you want to degrade the battery of a phone this old, or enjoy the battery of this new A55, with updates for 4 years?

That brings me into another topic, longevity.
A55 gets up to Android 18 with a year of updates on top, whereas the FE will only get up to 15. This should be expected since the FE is a bit of an older flagship.
It also gives samsung time to add (hopefully) more AI features into the A55 down the line. samsung hasn't yet confirmed if the Galaxy AI will come to A55 on android 14, but there are 4 more updates where samsung can (hopefully) give us these ai features. Theyve been teasing the improved NPU on the A55 so, we may hope they do. I doubt the S21fe will get ai features, its far too old for samsung to invest in, unlike the S and higher A series which give them more revenue, also another factor in the A55 increased price I'd say.
Also another thing ill mention is the A55 has an sd card slot, so if you would like longevity in storage, you should choose that.

All in all, they both are great phones. I'd recommend if youre a huge gamer to not get the S21fe instead try get the S22 or if possible S23fe. If youre casual user like most people are, the A55 is a solid and well rounded upper mid ranger, with a premium design, competitive performance and a great camera system, not to forget its 4 year software support and SD card capability, for a small trade off in wireless charging, DeX and the display, the A55 is a much better choice, thats built for the future.

GalaxyKingChampionMD, 27 Mar 2024A55 decimates the s21 fe in MANY regards, > It being a ... moreHow is not getting an SD variant a good thing exactly?
If it's between the exynos s21 and the a55 id pick the a55 but if it's the SD i'd pick no questions asked.
They compare the s23fe and a55 because they both came recently. That doesn't mean the S21 isn't a solid choice atm.
Yes software support is limited at this point for the S21 but it still is and feels like a premium phone and will do so for quite a few years.

Wireless charging isn't any different to a glass back and it's a highly convenient and might be essensial (in case usb port goes bad).
The plastic vs glass back itself is depentant on personal preference. While glass backsa look better and are mo0re classy, plastic ones are more durable and don't get fingerprints. Most people get a case anyway so the back not even relevant at this point. And yes it just wireless charge just fine while having a case on.

Sd cards should be irrelevenat for 90% of people but sure.
Cameras seem to be better on the s21
YEs the battery is worse on the S21 no matter which version you choose and that's laregly to the increased efficience of the 1480.
Samsung dex isn't a thing for the a55.

All in all, I personally wouldn't pick either of these ( in this price range I'd go for the S23 fe instead) but if I had to pick one i'd relactuntly grab the s21, mostly due to the lack of future updates.

Now assuming the S21 is refurbished then no id pick the a55. I can find the S21 brand new for 60-100 (depending on version) cheaper than the A55. A55 rices should drop down at some point however.

Edit: We don't know yet whether the A series will get the ai features of the s24s
