The only thing I have learnt is acceptance of a device's capabilities and the general wear and tear of components over time. Thanks for sharing your experience though.

Mid range phones and after close to 4 years the users do not complain :). Especially I control the child's phone. I do not see a problem with the phone's battery, and he plays the games a lot. Also,je is installing and uninstalling games often and no problem with software, even though the phone lost Samsung's support. I am pretty satisfied with Samsung.

Upgraded to S21 FE 5G and the first thing I did out of the box is to create a Modes and Routine shortcut to switch 5G off as I live in an area with very poor network reception. I switch it on or off based on my usage and I haven't seen any issue with Battery backup OR unusual drain. It's very odd to use this and then state comparison with iPhone 14 Pro Max too! I mean this and a true Apple flagship to compare with different OS? I'm not sure if there is actually an Android suited to your usage so Apple will serve you good. No point getting a 15 Pro Max and your 14 Pro Max is good for a lot more years.

Alvz, 28 Oct 2023After I have read this comment I am now hesitant and not wa... moreThere is no issue with the battery on this or other Samsung phones. Firstly, one should turn off the RAM plus feature. Also, because the display is pretty bright, one should use it at 50 % of brightness level as well as with Eye Comfort Shield not just for battery handling, but also to ease the eye strain because of the brightness for the long watching. By customization, one should put the unused apps in deep sleep mode. These are normal things to do for every Android phone. I have been using this phone for about ten months, and there are no issues with WiFi stability also. Because of the fact that Samsung is giving good value for the money, I choose not the iPhone Pro Max but the Z fold side.

I loved the design and captured my heart to it but I am very skeptical to samsung phones due to issues of battery and WiFi connection stability. I am using iphone 14 Pro and now ipho e 15 Pro and being an Apple user for a decade now I strongly advice you to stick to it if u want a stable performance and battery health for a long period of use. And the support on its software and security is phenomenal. I still have my iphone 4s and my 6s & 6s plus for Moretaine 7 yrs. And I still get the latest software update for the model. Eventhough its expensive but its worth the money you have

Battery life is terrible and battery drain is huge.
I created an account here just to state this important fact.
I bought this phone back in March 2021 when I moved from a Galaxy S9 which was 3 years old and the battery life was bad from the beginning as it featured only 3000 mah and it only got worse after 3 years where it would drain in 3 hours and in last 30% it would lose a % every minute.
So then when I acquired this Galaxy S21 FE it was really refreshing. So many new features, hardware improvement, battery improvement where it could last a solid 6 hours and an awesome smooth 120 hz display.
But then like with every Samsung phone, after 3 months it started having less and less battery life where screen usage was possible only for 3 hours max. I used the phone for general use, the only games that I would ever run were sudoku or chess (which are not demanding at all).
The fact was that it didn't matter what use case of the phone was, I could have gamed, I could have spent hours on social media apps, streaming apps, or I could not use the phone at all. Battery drain was always there. Any use case resulted in 3 hour battery life with the exception of not using the phone where whole 100% would be drained in 36 hours.
Sure, you could tell me to lower my brightness, to turn off mobile data and use wifi when possible, to avoid bad reception signals, to turn off 5G, to not use 120hz screen, to turn off location and bluetooth services, to uninstall unused apps, to check which apps drain battery the most (none of them show more than 5% usage in an hour), to update the phone to newest version, to download various battery optimization and debug apps, to factory reset the phone to get rid of possible malware which could have been causing drainage or any other normal or system app (done 3 times to no success even after waiting for "AI" to learn my "usage patterns"), to root the phone and put a custom rom (OS) on it and to get rid of all apps and underclock hardware and install battery focused kernel....etc
You see, none of these worked because they either helped out so little in battery compared in how much I'd lose in convenience or they ironically didn't affect the battery at all.
You could argue that my specific S21 FE is faulty and that I should go to service and get it fixed, and that's exactly what I did and even after getting another S21 FE with another whole battery, the same cycle repeated where first 3 months was okay, and then all of the issues appeared again.
At this point I was not angry like the first time. I was just sad and disappointed. It just seems that Samsung makes phones which run good for a few months and then they start having battery issues and lagging in some cases.
This led me to leave Samsung and to go to Apple with iPhone 14 Pro Max at the end of 2022 where it was just superb in every way possible in terms of battery and stability (and still is to this day)
I will be selling my iPhone now because I sell stuff when I get bored of it, however I have no idea what phone to move to as all of them seem to have this 3-6h screen on time unless you pay 1000$+ to have 8h where it's questionable if after 3 months the same curse will start.
I am wondering if anyone knows any alternative. Especially if we're keeping the budget up to 400 bucks. Or at least if there's an expensive phone which handles good battery and/or has very fast charging (also idk if foldable devices have good battery)

Have to agree with the S21 FE > S23 FE sentiment, so many corners were cut with the newer model:
> GG 5 instead of Victus
> No reverse wireless charging
> Virtual proximity sensor
> No OIS on the telephoto camera
> Thicker screen bezels
> Taller, wider, thicker and heavier despite the same battery capacity
> Has that dumb silver ring around the selfie camera
Given you can pick up the S21 FE for far less now than they're asking for the S23 FE it's easily the better deal.

B... moreAll I'm saying is, in a few years time, the 13T Pro will hold up much better than the S23 FE. That's the point I'm trying to make.
With the S23 FE, you're getting outdated hardware that is going to feel like crap in a couple of years.
The screen is a nice example, as it is a midrange level screen at best on a phone that is supposedly a "flagship killer". On the other hand, the 13T Pro and the 13T have screens straight out of flagship territory (heck, it's even more impressive a screen than on some actual flagship phones).
Why would you want to buy a phone that is just a massive rebrand of midrange components at a premium price over a similarily priced phone with actual flagship components?
Part of why the S21 FE has aged so well and why people like it more is because it actually brought down 2021's flagship components to a palatable price. The S23 FE, on the other hand, is just the A54 with a two year old flagship chipset, slightly better cameras and an aluminium frame put into it, all for a premium price. At that point, you should just call it the A54s or the A74. It is not worthy of the S series branding.

Both have their advantages and disvantages.
Just pick one according to your needs ans habbits and live long and prosper dude. We know what are you trying to do here, but that's pointless. You can't force someone to think like you when they have different experience, habbits and needs. Everybody has their own needs and habbits with everything not just phones. You have no right to judge people choosing another device then you because we are all different. You for example most probably likes to play high demanding games for hours and me.. well I'm not playing games AT ALL... Lol. I care a lot more about software stability and longer support. Many people don't like One UI, I don't like it either, but FOR ME is miles better then anything from Xiaomi amd their MIUI, so.. do you get what am I saying?
I hope so lol
Oh and..

Why are you trying to justify buying a phone that is barely any better than its predecessor for a higher price?
Comparing the S23 FE to the 13T Pro, the only advantages that the S23 FE has are in unimportant areas. In the key aspects of a phone, (its SOC, screen, cameras etc.), the 13T Pro destroys the S23FE.
