I have the s9+ with 64gb of storage and I still haven't used it all and I've never held back. I've always downloaded whatever I want. Games, apps, i take tons of pics and video's too. I just pre ordered the s21 ultra and I can't freaking wait. All the haters are without a doubt the ones that can't buy one.

No SD is a massive failure on Samsungs part. It's the ONLY reason I buy them. Perhaps my S20 is the last Samsung I buy.

I see Samsung is starting to turn into Apple with the no option for an SD card slot, shame on you Samsung!!!! Going the same route as Apple and making people pay more for memory when the phone already cost too much in the first place. You know better!!!!

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2021no sdcard means photos will fill up phone fast... imagine this (idk if this is already a thing), a thin case that had a built in storage unit and it would transfer the data from the phone to the storage unit in the case wirelessly... isn't that a cool idea and it might make a good project... and it would connect instantly as soon as u put it on and have all that data on tap whenever u need it... like magsafe

Nope no AV1 decode. Also Apple's A14 still is a generation ahead in terms of single thread performance and esp GPU performance. Not that I would get an iPhone, I like the hardware but can't stand iOS at all. I'll give credit where credit is due though, their SoC's are beastly.

sean8102, 17 Jan 2021Heck not long ago I dumped several seasons of the X-Files o... more~50 GB of video not 20. Man I wish you could edit comments here. Anyways I said my opinion. Seems like a great phone, just don't see why the micro SD has to go. Why remove it? Leave it there for those that like having the option and those that never use it won't notice it's there.
Also dose anyone know if the Snapdragon 888 has AV1 video decode?

So I could pick up where I was at home anytime I wanted, no using data, no worrying about cell phone coverage or if Wi-Fi is around my location. Just do it because why not when you have a 256 GB MicroSD card you can throw stuff on.

*sigh* goodbye MicroSD card slot I guess. And the headphone jack of course. Seriously considering making my next phone something besides a Samsung since the Galaxy S3.
Yea 256 GB of internal storage is great. But there are so many things you can park on the SD card instead making more room for more apps/games. Makes me really sad to see Samsung killing off the MicroSD slot :( So many apps give you the option of saving stuff to the sd card. Like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube Music, Disney+, YouTube Premium etc. That's a ton of space to use if you wanna download some videos or music for offline use while not taking up any of your internal storage. Plus having photos and videos you record save to the card of course (which can add up fast when talking 4K or higher video)
Also when you use the SmartSwitch app it gives you the option to backup to microSD. Which means you can very quickly restore your phone to the state it was in. Settings, Apps (and app data), messages, call log etc etc, my backup is ~17 GB. That's 17GB I don't have to re download. So if I reset my phone, or like what I did recently. Flashing from the AT&T firmware to the US Unlocked firmware to get rid of the AT&T bloat, it took just a few mins to get my phone right back to where it was after flashing the unlocked firmware.
