VladoP, 17 Oct 2022I saw it yesterday.....while Samsung trying to imitate ipho... moreWell, I definitely liked the new design. Samsung took the best from iphones, and without that big punch hole Apple tried to hide with the "dynamic island" thing.

Dimensions of S22+ are 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6 mm, while for the S21+ 161.5 x 75.6 x 7.8 mm. Only width is slightly bigger, and I don't care because bezels are minimal. The new S22+ is not bulky at all.

I saw it yesterday.....while Samsung trying to imitate iphone's frame and form factor, they ended with just uglier and bulkier S21.

Stop spreading nonsense.

I wanted to buy an S21 Ultra but it disappeared into thin air as soon as the S22 arrived
With that said, if you want a flagship, get the S22 Ultra. The S22 and + are mid range phones disguised as flagships with a flagship price just like the FE
If you don't want a flagship, there's always the A30,50 and 70 series

mehdi, 11 Oct 2022> i can even see the pixels if i look close enough. Ser... moreI do notice the pixels sometimes and it bothers me quite a lot. For comparison i can't see the pixels on the S22 Ultra no matter how hard i try so i don't think it's my eyes being microscopes

You got a nice deal then. Unfortunately where i live it's $1000 for 128 gb

Exynos. Yeah we Europeans got the short end of the stick

I don't mind the SD card slot not being included but if i have the option of having and not having it then it's obvious i'd choose to have it. Same goes for the headphone jack even tho i wouldn't really use it much. Better to have these things and not need them than need them and not have them

Seriously ? I have some near sightness, and I struggle to see any pixel. Do you have a microscope instead of eyes ?

                            > The only thing i didn't like about the design is how flat it is
Somehow like the iphone design, and I enjoy it.

                            > It doesn't feel good in hand because the sharp edges cut into your skin.
The S22 ultra is a nigthmare to handle in comparison.

                            > 128 gb non expandable storage and 8 gb ram for $1000?
Got 256gb version for less than 1000$. I was lucky with the seller. He wanted to offer me the galaxy buds. I said I wasn't interested. So he reduced the price.

                            > The biggest issue is the heat.
Mmm ok. Snapdragon or exynos ?

                            > Battery: It wasn't anything special at the start and it only got worse since.

There's an option to restrict charging to 85%, this improve life expectancy of battery. Also avoid heat, this is bad for battery too.

                            > Money value: 1/10
You miss the Sd card slot. I miss the headphone jack. Eh, that's life. You might look for an other brand, because they are not going back.

I've had this phone since June and here are my ratings. This will be a long list

                                Display: 6/10
The display looks great, the colors are nice and it's pretty bright, just what you'd expect from a high end Samsung phone. Unfortunately, the display would have been a 10/10 if it wasn't for one fatal flaw - the 1080p resolution. The resolution doesn't do the phone no wonders. It's nowhere near as sharp as the display on the S22 Ultra and sometimes i can even see the pixels if i look close enough. On a screen as big as this, 1440p should have been the only option. 1080p should have only stayed on the small basic S22

                                Design and built quality: 9/10
Glass and metal, no surprises here. The only thing i didn't like about the design is how flat it is. It doesn't feel good in hand because the sharp edges cut into your skin. The flat screen and back also make the phone feel much thicker because of the metal frame. Not a big deal once you put a case on it tho (as you should). The frosted glass back is also just there. It's not worse or better than a normal glass so i don't really have anything to say about it

                                Sound quality: 10/10
The sound is great. Not much else to say here

                                Battery: 4/10
The battery is.....not what i'd call ok. It wasn't anything special at the start and it only got worse since. This is definitely not a phone i'd rely to last for very long

                                Storage and ram: 1/10
128 gb non expandable storage and 8 gb ram for $1000? If someone told me that i wouldn't have believed them. For this price and no expandable storage, 256/12 should have been the minimum with an additional 512/12 option. The S10 from 3 years ago has more storage and ram than this thing

                                Performance: 7/10
The phone performs quite well for the most part. It lagged and froze a couple of times but nothing too serious. The biggest issue is the heat. During the hot summer that i used this phone through it would get so hot that you can't even use it anymore. Besides that it can handle heavy games but like i said - the heat, that will become a problem if you play for a while

                                Cameras: ?/10
I don't really use the camera

                                Money value: 1/10
For this price, i would not recommend this phone. Get yourself an S21 Ultra instead which will cost around the same if not any cheaper while being a much better phone. The S20+ and Note 20 Ultra are also better options and much cheaper as well that even have an SD card slot, something i value more over anything the S22+ has. If you don't care about updates i'd even recommend the S10/Note 10 over this phone. If you do care about updates and don't want an older phone, add an additional $150 and get the far superior S22 Ultra. Unless you can get this phone for a good price, you're better off with the ones i mentioned above

That's pretty much it. I'm not impressed

Max brightness of S21 ultra is 1500 nits and for S22 plus, is 1750 nits. Combine this with the "vision booster" thing, and this makes a difference under direct sunlight.

                                  > 1080p on the S22+ laughable
The numbers are laughable, not the real thing. S22 plus screen is sharp and detailed. Better resolution is unnecessary.

                                  > Not to mention the horrible battery on the S22+
The s21 ultra is heavier and thicker. The S22 plus battery is "average", not "horrible".

                                  > Is a flat screen and smaller ratio that big of a deal?
Absolutely. You realize that despite having a smaller diagonal, the s22+ have same width of display than the S21 ultra ? And the curved part of S21 ultra screen are almost like wasted display for me.

The Ultra has a 1440p LTPO screen which makes the basic 1080p on the S22+ laughable in comparison. Not to mention the horrible battery on the S22+ that's only gonna get worse because it doesn't have LTPO

I prefer the flat screen of the S22 plus, and the more natural ratio of the screen. I like a brighter screen, and the "vision booster" technology , that boost contrast under direct sunlight. If samsung release an ultra with a flat screen, I might consider it.

Honestly if you consider buying this phone then you're better off just getting the S21 Ultra from last year. It's better in every way and after a year the price has gone down and might even cost you less
The S20+, S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra are also good options if you can get your hands on them
Funnt how Samsung's flagship phones become more appealing after a year or two. Back in 2020 i would have never recommended buying the overpriced S20 and would have gone for an S10 or even S9 instead, but now? The S20 is an amazing option for the much lower price
