Anonymous, 12 Dec 2023I genuinely feel bad for people buying this phone, thinking... moreIn my country, s21 fe (8, 256) currently can be bought for 480 euros while s23 fe (8, 256) for 540 euros. S23 fe has a much better chipset, better camera, better hardware and software optimizations. If I did not have 21 fe, I would buy s23 fe without regret. I paid almost a year ago s21 fe (6, 128) for 700 euros. If people want a good phone for the bucks, they can wait for further price drop, although I currently do not see any problems for buying it.

I genuinely feel bad for people buying this phone, thinking they got a great deal for an "S23", instead they got a recycled phone from almost 2 years ago.

potato4k, 12 Dec 2023Samsung uses a global standard for fast charging, aka USB-P... moreIt still increases battery temperature a lot compared to classical fast charging methods.
Here's why:
• Higher current: Even though the current is divided between two cells, the total current per time used for fast charging remains significantly higher than that used in classical methods.
• Internal resistance: Each cell has its own internal resistance, which generates heat when current flows through it. In a dual-cell design, there are two sources of internal resistance contributing to more heat generation.
• Increased charging losses: During charging, some energy is always lost as heat due to various factors like electrical resistance in the cables and connectors with overall increased temperature. These losses and temperature are typically higher in fast charging systems due to the higher current involved per time.
They are not using always this marketing gimmick. They use also a more bad one to fry the battery. A higher current is used initially to quickly charge the battery to a certain level. Then, a much lower current is used to finish charging.
"Overheating the battery degrades it further so if you always charge your phone to the heat, expect the expectation."

MasterClass, 09 Dec 2023Why Chinese Mobile phones can be charged in 17 minutes with... moreSamsung uses a global standard for fast charging, aka USB-PD. This is the same standard used by Apple and all modern laptops for fast charging.
Those Chinese OEMs use proprietary fast charging and requires their specific charger and cable to get the fastest charging speed. Plus they divide their batteries in two parts so you have parallel charging. Thus technically that 120W speed is basically just 60W, but charging two batteries in parallel.

That s23 fe body is built on a54 shell with small production i.e. machine adjustments is causing the s23 fe price to drop much faster than its predecessor s21 fe. It is already decent phone for the bucks. By further price cutoff it shall be even better. Exynos 2200 in this phone is showing excellent results. This chipset in the future will be installed in the lower-class Samsung phones. The gain for those phones shall be excellent.

Fan edition isn't about listening to fans, its about bringing fan-favourite features at lower prices.
And let me list the flagship features: Screen type, camera, Samsung Dex support, selfie camera, IP68, update support. Yeah, I agree, it's quite a bad phone initially, but with the price drop it's quite an average one.

Why Chinese Mobile phones can be charged in 17 minutes with 120 w, but Samsung still uses 25 w charger! Does it mean that Samsung is not technologically so much developed? Even Samsung galaxy s23 ultra uses 45w charger!

What i can see is : high price, bad battery, slow charging, overheating SOC, no sd, no jack.
There are better devices for the money, even from samsung itself(shopping around for refurb/2nd hand). Even better from other brands.
This phone is abomination, made from leftovers and pushed as something special "FE" edition.
