Samsung Galaxy S24 review
Design, build quality, handling
The smallest of the new Galaxies is naturally the cutest. The Galaxy S24 is one of the most compact and lightweight modern flagships. It has this memorable, clean, no-nonsense design and many people would immediately fall in love with it.
The refreshed design with this new flat matte frame makes the Galaxy S24 feel new in hand. But don't worry, the edge is not that sharp - it is instead nicely contoured and comfortable to the touch.
The Galaxy S24 arrives in many new colors - Cobalt Violet, Amber Yellow (ours), Onyx Black and Marble Gray. In addition to these widespread hues, Samsung.com will offer exclusive Sapphire Blue, Jade Green and Sandstone Orange.
The build of the Galaxy has been improved. While the panels are still made of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sheets (the Armor is reserved for the Ultra), the aluminum frame is now in its official version 2 and has an even tougher drop and scratch resistance. Here is hoping that you will never get to find out if this is indeed true.
The Galaxy S24 is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance, the highest we usually get on non-rugged phones. There are no claims for higher resistance (like Apple's) beyond what the rating normally covers - survival up to 30 minutes in 1.5m deep clean water.
The new LTPO OLED screen has thinner bezels, so Samsung has fitted a slightly larger panel in the same footprint. It has the usual punch-hole around the top to make way for the selfie camera.
The stereo speaker system uses the earpiece as a second speaker, but the outlet is so thin that it is almost impossible to see with the naked eye.
The Galaxy S24 comes with an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor - it is comfortably placed, fast and accurate. Note that it may not work as well with the glass screen protectors.
Around the back, we stop to enjoy the fresh Amber Yellow color. After you finish that, you can look at the vertically aligned triple camera setup. Each camera has a jutting-out metal ring serving as lens housing.
And here is a look around its cool new frame.
The Galaxy S24 is incredibly comfortable to hold and handle. It is grippy, pocket-friendly, can be easily operated with one hand, and offers one of the most balanced form factors and builds we've encountered since, well, the Galaxy S23, Zenfone 10, and the iPhone mini.

It says in the text that the phone will get seven years of updates, including security patches (so that is the updates). What else did you think about?

What about security updates? Depending on how the phone is used they are more important surely?
