DBoy, 15 Jul 2024Probably it is the other way round...Samsung does not make ... moreSure sounds like something Samsung would do: "You want a smaller and lighter phone? Unless you can pay out of your eyeballs for the compact S phone, we won't make any affordable option for you." Just suck as much as they can out of people, even those that can't afford.

Most people are happy with A35 performance, so if there was a phone like A35 with the size of S24, nobody would buy the S24 three times more expensive...

Just as the European Snapdragon lovers (and I’ve heard from plenty of them) didn’t magically start loving Exynos phones (especially the S21 and S22) just because the so-called “stats” say that customers are buying them. The customers themselves tell you that they still want Snapdragon but they have no choice as Exynos is all that’s available to them. But according to some people’s convoluted logic, you’re to trust the sacred “stats” on what phones people want instead of actually listening to what they are telling you.
Same for the Note series, whose fans are now stuck getting something else.
Same with compact phone, which is only available to the rich who can afford pricey S phones, but those who can’t are stuck getting big phones that are cheaper. And that is what the phone sale stats are REALLY saying if one uses the slightest bit of critical thinking.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2024Sadly, we'll likely never see small mid-rangers make a... moreIt's not true. The small S24 sells amazingly well. If there were a few budget phones that were also that size (in addition to the big ones), they'd sell well too for the same reason.
This concept that Samsung makes what customers want (so if something is discontinued it means people don't want it) is a MYTH. In fact, people can only buy what's available, so it looks like that's what they want, but that's not the case. If Samsung actually made what people wanted, they wouldn't stop the Note series, force Exynos chips on flagships in many countries, remove the headphone jack and SD slot, and they'd trim down phone bodies to eliminate dead space and their ugly bezels. But Samsung makes what they want, not what customers want. We are just forced to choose from whatever is available, not from what we actually want.

Just ONE phone, 12 Jul 2024Why in the name of Sam Hill can’t Samsung make at least ONE... moreTotally agree! The M, F, and C series are so similar to each other that it becomes confusing and pointless. If only Samsung would revamp their budget lineup once more so each series has its own unique selling point. My suggestion would be something like this:
A series = General everyday use.
C series = Compact versions of the A series phones, for compact phone lovers.
M series = Large batteries and large screens for long runtimes and media consumption.
F series = Performance-oriented phones at budget prices to compete with brands such as Poco and Realme who are known for their "flagship-killers".

They would rather spend a couple hundred more dollars for the S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max so they can get the most phone for their money.
That being said, people also wouldn't spend less on an iPhone 15 Mini or S24 Mini with a screen size of 5.4-5.7 inches because they would be too small for many tasks, especially browsing the web, watching videos and gaming. Their small size would also mean awfully short battery life and needing to charge more often.

Anonymous, 14 Jul 2024Because the A01’s chip was from the bottom of the barrel. B... moreSadly, we'll likely never see small mid-rangers make a comeback as the majority of people no longer want small phones. Apple dropped the Mini model for their iPhone since the 14, because of how poorly the 12 Mini and 13 Mini sold, and Asus made the Zenfone 11 Ultra a near carbon-copy of the ROG 8 to save manufacturing costs, because the Zenfone 10 didn't sell too well.
The least that Samsung would do for the S24 FE, A56, A36, A26, and A16 is trim down the bezels a bit, maybe also give the lower-end ones like the A26 and A16 hole punch cutouts.

I remember the day,
When one could confidently say:
“My smartphone is sleek, mobile, and light,
Easy to carry, day and night.”
To your pocket it easily slides in and out,
Without weighing down your pants and making you shout.
Easy to hold, whether in two hands or one,
No strain or fatigue, what fun!
Is it a tablet or a phone?
The difference was easily known.
But now the line is blurred,
Most devices are “phablets”, so absurd!
Clunky, heavy, and big,
Feels like you’re carrying a rig.
No longer have you access to a compact device,
Unless you're rich and can afford the expensive price!

Hanif Fikri, 14 Jul 2024Bruh alternatively you can buy s21 or s22 it's cheaper... more...If you get them refurbished from 3rd party sellers. But many people only buy new electronics from 1st party sellers. Can't say I blame them.
The millions of people who want it, should be able to get a compact budget phone directly from Samsung without having to scrounge through the electronics sewer for it.

But if they used a decent chip (like the E1480 in 2024 or the E1580 in 2025, or perhaps the Dimensity 1300) for a S24 sized mid-ranger, it would be quite good, and it would have an affordable price for the many compact phone lovers who can’t afford the S24.

Just ONE phone, 12 Jul 2024Why in the name of Sam Hill can’t Samsung make at least ONE... moreMan, this makes me miss my J5 2017. It was decently affordable, had decent specs, an all-aluminum body, was just the right size at 146mm tall and 71mm wide, and only weighed 160 grams. The 5.2 inch display was perfect for one-handed use, even though it was only in 720p.
I still love my A55, but it's really unwieldy and heavy in comparison. It barely fits in my pants' pockets and feels like holding a brick.
The last time Samsung ever made budget, compact phones was back in 2020 with the A01 and A01 Core. Both of them were pretty terrible honestly.

Samsung makes so many similar phones each year. Can't they make at least one budget option that's compact like the S24??
There are so many people that would buy it!

Just one budget phone a year with the S24's size isn't too much to ask for, as they make so many models each year anyway. The S24 sells very well, and an S24 size budget phone would sell great too, as many smaller phone lovers can't afford the S phone's price, but love its size and non-heaviness.
