What would be the cons of having it?i dont think so speed and reliability. My OLD sd card from s7 edge is still alive and i have used it till my s20u,note9,s8 plus. Now its useless because of people like you who thinks they know what is useful to someone. We are all consumers,if you dont use something it doesnt mean someone is not using it. Anyhow if its not coming back im not worried also Because I dont need a 1000usd phone just to use it for YouTube,fb,tiktok, instagram and casual emails.

S24user, 13 Apr 20241. You can always connect the external drive via USB-C for ... more1. But always have to transfer instead of already being there, plus it takes space in pocket, plus factor in forgetfulness and lazyness
    2. I haven't lost anything with root except OTA, and KnoxPatch restores Knox features except Samsung Pass and one other
    3. Maybe if you put apps there, but NEVER had it slow down my S10+, and with a PC using a MicroSD reader supporting UHS-III (or UHS-II, whichever is fastest and exists today) transfer speed was 130 MB/s, it would be close to 300 MB/s with a UHS-II compatible card

      2. If you root a Samsung phone you lose more than gain. Maybe after the end of support, it is worth it.

SteveUk, 12 Apr 2024Most (all?) flagship phones don't have SD cards these ... moreI need SD card mainly for my media only, photos, videos and offline music. They remove it because of only 1 reason,to milk more money, because they realize that 256GB is enough for apps, but too less for todays standards if you store videos and photos on the same nand flash. Remember samsung even give us 100GB free on onedrive storage ?why becsuse they are trying to promote cloud. I want my data on my hand,i dont want someone keeping my data safe for me.

You don't need that much speed to store most important data. And much faster than cloud.

Case in point: I use Neo Backup. On my S21U I had to spend 2 hours downloading everything for Neo Backup from Google Drive, which would take all of 12 minutes with MicroSD. It takes at least an hour to transfer from PC to phone and vice versa.

            How's 130 MB/s slow?

Samsung is not doing great this time, the s24u screen feels cheaper for me. The display is not vivid and it looks matte and colors are washed out with noticeable noise/grainy on the picture. Maybe because of the extra anti reflectiveness of the screen. Anotherr is low storage options, without sd card you're trapped with a very low 256GB storage. No noticeable upgrade even coming from s22u.

sparky8691, 10 Apr 2024I recently got the S24U to replace my S22U. Pretty disappoi... moreWhat do you mean by angles? If you mean by angling your thumb, then add a second fingerprint, but angle it left for first 50% and angle it right for other 50%. Maybe the screen protector is also interfering if you applied one?

If you mean thumb orientation, can't help you there, except to add another with that orientation where you expect it to be placed. My S21U can recognize my fingerprint no matter if it's upside-down, to the right, up... My S10+ with LineageOS 20 had to have an approximate orientation for it to be recognized. A massive improvement, as well as being able to be used completely dry, and much faster.

Maybe it supports 15W but not 25 or 45W. My family member has a Xiaomi 120W charger but it only supports 15W, 66W and 120W, not 25W thus my S21U charges only 15W.

M.A, 09 Apr 2024It is supose to the charger give the battery max watt 45 ... moreOn my S21U it charges slower with screen on and using apps.

For example Firefox is a battery hog and would drain 15% per hour plus heat up the phone (I had a lot of addons I admit) plus it would reload tabs sometimes while Brave responds much faster, doesn't heat up the phone and doesn't reload tabs and it wastes 10-11% per hour.

You can download expanded Battery Guru from paget96's page (more options including Doze than Play Store version).

                                  https://www.paget96projects.com/battery-guru-download.html

It needs some adb permissions to grant, which you can do without a PC using Shizuku and aShell. Shizuku is on Play Store while aShell is free on F-Droid.

Battery Guru will show you exact amperage and wattage in the moment through a notification. It will also show you percentage of battery usage per hour.

As the battery charges, it heats up. At 38°C it slows down to protect the battery. Using the phone while it's charging also contributes to battery heat.

Turn off the screen, and if using the phone, avoid apps that heat up the phone and it will charge faster. It cannot charge constantly at 45w as the battery heats up, and if it forced 45w despite battery heat it would damage it or significantly shorten it's lifespan. Be glad this is implemented.

Samsung displays were always too oversaturated. The S24 Ultra, whether unintentionally or not, has a more natural color tone. I would assume this might be a side-effect of the anti-reflective glass. Also, curved displays are impractical and have that horrible bleed down the sides and glare.

Charging speed depends on battery temperature, ambient temperature. On your case there are high possibility of background processes eating a lot of juice and making your device heat more than normal that's why it's charging slower. You can check power hungry apps in battery settings + put all apps that don't need notifications in deep sleep.

I recently got the S24U to replace my S22U. Pretty disappointed with the screen so far. It's noticeably grainy and looks washed out. I've installed all the latest updates, even with this if I compare next to the S22U the S24 definitely looks worse. My preferred settings are max resolution, vivid mode and eye comfort shield on. The S22U seems to strike the perfect balance between vivid colours but also filtering out blue light when it's darker. The 24U ends up having this weird mismatch of a clearly high quality resolution and colour depth but with this washed out look you'd expect from a lower quality LCD.

Also not liking the flat screen, it looks cheap and feels less comfortable to hold. I accept this is personal preference though and lots of people prefer that extra little bit of screen space or like it for writing with the S Pen. But personally it's a downgrade for me. The curved edges of the S22U just looked lovely and seamless, like the screen is floating in the air. And felt more comfortable for swipe gestures like the left swipe I have set up as the back action in Good Lock's One Hand Operation+.

Unfortunately I waited a couple weeks to even start using the phone as the case I wanted wasn't available straight away. So I'm out of my return window. All I can do if I want to go back to using my S22U is to just sell the S24. The network provider I got it from said they are happy to get a tech to examine it to see if the screen is faulty, but after a few Google searches it seems clear that it's a characteristic of the new display, worse on some units but absolutely no way to know if a replacement unit will be better or not.

And Samsung don't seem to be accepting it as a defect, I've seen some owners complain and get a reply from Samsung telling them just not to use dark mode or have low brightness, where this screen issue seems to be worse. That attitude is a bit of a joke considering how expensive the phone is. Personally I like to keep my brightness around 10-20% indoors and I use dark mode so the way I use the phone seems to be in the zone where these screen issues are more noticeable. Great performance at low brightness settings is exactly why I've enjoyed using AMOLED screens over the years and I've never seen poor screen characteristics like this on any of my previous Samsung models with this screen type (S22U, S21U, Note 10+, Note 9, Note 8, S6 Edge).

Also found the fingerprint scanner to be worse so far, I have to keep my thumb really straight for it to work, whereas the S22U can recognise my thumb at other angles. Will have to look at settings as when setting up fingerprint scanning on the S22U it asked me to do a normal scan and then another whilst moving my thumb to different angles so that would explain why it's better in that regard. Perhaps the S24U has a way of doing that.

If my network provider's tech finds out there is a screen issue and I get a repair/replacement that doesn't have any grain will have to consider whether to keep it or not as the colours and flat screen will still feel like a downgrade. But if the grain can't be fixed I'm almost certain I'll just sell it and accept the £300 or so loss.
