Finally buckled to Samsung, since my S8, this is my first Samsung I have bought, here is my first impression.

Samsung is definitely top jackass for running android experience, let me elaborate.
My past recent phones, Asus Zenfone9 and 11, Nothing 2, Oneplus 8T, Oneplus 6T and Pixel before these with a Galaxy S7 Active and Galaxy S8(End of my Galaxy chapter), all except Galaxy one thing in common, pure clean android.

Samsung tried so hard to look like apple, it ruined what android is about, modifiable device with power to change anything practically.

However Samsung made so much restrictions to change basic settings such as setting notification sound to apps, changing wallpaper, decent widget and app drawer.(yes possible, but with substantial amount of search for the damn settings)

Samsung apps are way too overreach(initial reason to avoid, galaxy junk apps and Bixby), some you cannot disable/uninstall like contact, phone, pass, browser and cloud(simply want to use google apps)

Only reason I gave in, no decent phone with good spec worth buying.

Pixel is another iphone with cheap hardware optimized software to work barely.

Oneplus is ruined since merged with oppo officially, 8T was last gone one, tried 10 and 12/

Sony, nobody cares, odd shape phone, horrible UI and poor screen quality, even in Japan they don't care, no one buys or have any accessories.

Asus, very low quality, none of my phone degraded like Zenfone 11 did, again no one care, Zenfone 12 Ultra is not sold anywhere, even amazon does not carry it anymore, and my Zenfone 11 and 9, could not find any decent case or screen protector.

Left with Samsung.... Will update in 6 months if the phone is still with us.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2025These arent the same cameras jeez. How much can people be blindBased on the specifications you provided, the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and the Samsung Galaxy S25+ are nearly identical in terms of hardware, with only minor differences in the focal length of the main and telephoto lenses.
Here's a breakdown of the differences:
            Wide Camera:
            S22+: 50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56", 1.0µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS
            S25+: 50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm (wide), 1/1.56", 1.0µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS
The S25+ has a slightly wider main camera with a focal length of 23mm compared to the S22+'s 24mm. This is a very minor change and will likely not be noticeable in everyday use.
            Telephoto Camera:
            S22+: 10 MP, f/2.4, 67mm (telephoto), 1/3.94", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
            S25+: 10 MP, f/2.4, 70mm (telephoto), 1/3.94", 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
The S25+ has a slightly longer telephoto lens with a 70mm focal length, compared to the S22+'s 67mm. This means the S25+ will be able to zoom in just a tiny bit more at its native 3x optical zoom.
            Ultrawide Camera:
            S22+: 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55" 1.4µm, Super Steady video
            S25+: 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55" 1.4µm, Super Steady video
There is no difference in the ultrawide camera specifications.

Lol so much for "changes".....3 year old phone has a mm change difference.

On F-Droid, there's an app that let's you remove pre-installed apps and includes a decent confidence rating system for what to remove (meaning X is fine to remove but Y isn't) but with One UI 8 apparently making DeX worse, I don't want it yet.

For your criteria, there are many phones that fit. My overall pick is the HMD Skyline, as the overall specifications are unmatched at its current price point around US$250 or less (it wouldn't be the best in its segment for its MRSP at launch, so there's that). The OZO playback outperforms Dolby Atmos in both clarity and fidelity, as experienced in person. Also, the camera setup outperforms flagships from yesteryear and earlier, with the help of third party camera apps such as Google Camera, and with customized tuning from other apps like Open Camera, Adobe Lightroom and Snapseed. On a positive note, buying from a niche brand with scarce resources is more or less the same as supporting a small business, within the context of the mobile industry. Also, niche brands are committed to maintain a loyal consumer base, so they tend to address feedback directly.

Apart from that, the other devices I've listed may fit your criteria well, but do notice they are either expensive or require grey importing due to not being available worldwide. Also, try not to rely on reviews, but use your common sense and rationality when purchasing phones, as most reviewers tend to be biased as long as they get paid (the sole reason why this website gives meager ratings based on how much they are paid from the company that provides devices, as with Apple and Samsung-branded devices).

My suggestion is to purchase one phone and use it for a minimum of 7 years, so that you can both notice its shortcomings and provide a comprehensive feedback for the brand to improve their future products (something larger brands tend to ignore due to sales numbers and emphasis on profit-making). Also, buying phones, using and reselling, is a waste of both your finances and resources, when you take into account that end-user products become zero-value once the packaging is opened in terms of economics, which in turn, creates more e-waste in the long run.

                        Hope that helps! 👍

Extremely Disappointed with the phone and service
Received a Samsung Galaxy S25+ as a gift (purchased on 01/07/25 ) and didn’t begin using it until about three weeks later. Once I opened it, I transferred my data over but didn’t have time to use the phone immediately due to work. The very next day, I turned it on, and it prompted me for a software update. I clicked “Update,” and that’s where the problems began — the phone restarted and got stuck in a boot loop.
I looked online and tried everything: factory reset, troubleshooting tips — nothing worked. I eventually contacted Samsung, which was a long and frustrating process in itself. I sent the phone to their service centre, and after several days, they called back saying the issue was related to "account activation" and that it was fixed.
Fast forward three weeks: another update appeared. I clicked it, and once again the phone entered a boot loop. I had to go through the entire process again — contacting Samsung, sending the phone to the service centre on 21/07/25. On 28/07/25, I followed up and was told it was a motherboard issue this time. They repaired it and sent it back.
                          Here are the main issues:
                          • I’ve wasted at least a full day dealing with Samsung support, the service centre, and repeatedly transferring my data between phones.
                          • I’ve lost two full weeks of using a brand new phone — one week for each repair.
                          • I was never offered a replacement device, extended warranty, or even any form of compensation for the inconvenience.
                          • I feel like I didn’t buy a new phone — I bought a faulty product that has already required two repairs within the first month. Should have bought a refurbished phone or something else with a much cheaper price
This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I expected much better from a premium brand like Samsung. I’m now left wondering if this phone will fail again with the next update.

If i can find a phone with roughly the same dimensions, a decent digital zoom, a camera that can rival a 2-year old Apple/Samsung flagship, a true 1-day battery life, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos or the very least spatial audio support , a fairly high TRR and decent PWM dimming but cheaper than an S25+ then i am all ears.

Many users prefer the smaller size of the Galaxy S26 (or S25) and iPhone 16 Pro over the larger Ultra or Pro Max models.
But only Apple provides the same top-tier camera hardware in both the smaller and larger Pro models, something Samsung doesn’t do.

The only difference is the 5x zoom periscope lens, exclusive to Pro Max.
So you can buy the smaller, lighter Pro model without sacrificing image quality.
