US Samsung Galaxy S4 Active to launch exclusively on AT&T

13 June, 2013

AT&T officially announced that it will be launching the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active exclusively in the US. The carrier dunked a unit in water to celebrate, relying on the IP67-certified hardware to keep going.

Pre-orders will be starting tomorrow, Friday, with the first Galaxy S4 Active units expected to hit AT&T stores (both brick and mortar and online) about a week later on June 21. The price is set at $200 with a 2-year contract.

The Galaxy S4 Active for AT&T will be available in two color versions: Urban Gray and Dive Blue. The Orange Flare color option – which is the one we used for our preview – is not available.

Still, not bad for a fully featured flagship with a 5" 1080p screen (an LCD instead of Super AMOLED like the regular S4), Snapdragon 600 chipset with four Krait 300 cores at 1.9GHz, fast LTE connectivity and 8MP camera (down from 13MP for the city slicker S4).

There's more – IR blaster to control your TV, Air Gestures, SAFE certification for security-conscious business types and all sorts of other features. Here are the highlights, presented in 60 seconds:

Pre-orders will be through this page (not available just yet) starting tomorrow. Before you go, here's the Galaxy S4 Active taking a dive:
