The camera is probably almost as good as the SGS6 since Windows-fanboy websites claim the Lumia 930 just barely beats the Note 4 camera if you use PureView on the Lumia and edit the photos yourself instead of letting it apply oversampling or something, whereas the Note 4 was still doing it's own sharpening and enhancement to the images. And we know the SGS6 camera beats the Note 4. So ya, I don't think anyone would get the Lumia 930 over the SGS6 except to save money. 20MP vs 16MP is not really a comparison that even matters to most people.

I think people who are IFanBoys should be jealous more because they cannot accept that S6 series are better than their Iphone's (hardware + design) just accept it GUYS! Samsung Rules "Next is Now!" "Iphone is past"

Everybody making excuses of mcard, fixed battery are grumbling because of price, than anything else. All is well that ends well. When will the price war calm down. As by S10 it wud be 2000$.

I haven't benched from PC but i noticed that when transferring from both USB 2.0 and 3.0.
Internal storage bench gives me 192MB/s read and 53MB/s write (i have only 3gb left so values could be less than a clean/test phone).

So maybe Samsung got rid of some bottleneck in their architecture by removing external sd and one reason to be slow/laggy in certain tasks

here (FR) i hardly found more than 16gb Samsung devices in the past (hence my 16gb Note 2014) and just like you, i expand storage with microsd only for that. That's why i'm happy to see 64/128gb readying for preorders here.

Despite using fast 64gb microsdxc from Samsung and Sandisk, i couldn't bear the "loading" from those external cards each time i want to show off some high quality photos / videos to people (like you have that great phone. And you can already hear the thoughts of iphone owners/no microsd card phones), highly noticeable with a good 30gb of 16MP photos and 1080p/4K videos.

I'm used to charge my devices every 2 or 3 days in average, i should get some time before asking Samsung a battery replacement :)
As you and many said, it's a consumer society so, excepted the few still sticking with a S2 in 2015 as their main device, people usually look for a new device after 2 or 3 years of the same.

S5 was and is still a great choice when i see people complaining, maybe G3 since it has FM radio but no water protection. For those who really need water protection (and a new device), S6 Active / Z3 (and maybe Z4) may turn their head more.

It's all about choices and tastes. There are enough phones and brands on the market to not stay and whine every day at 1 model which is aimed more at being a luxuary product than an "all people" product, in my opinion (especially the Edge).

Samsungs Kept Very Silent about the Batterylife on the Galaxy S6,o.k they said about Fast Charging but Nothing how Long they Accept the Battery to Last,Forbes as just put on that the Galaxy S6 Active as Much Larger Battery than the Galaxy S6,Will All Samsung Premium Phones now not Offer the Removable Battery or Micro sd Card Slots,as i Bet the Galaxy Note phone uses will Worried if Samsung Follow Suite and do the Same with the Note 5

Meanwhile, a USB 3.0 card reader, which are cheap these days, can get 90MB/sec+ out of modern microSD cards like the Samsung Pro ($1 per gig) according to Tom's, and you know Tom's is right: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/microsd-cards-2014/-1-Sequential-Read-MB-s,3480.html

Now I wonder what the Samsung Pro card would get in the S5 via USB 3.0 connected to a PC. This guy used a Sandisk Extreme card with his Note 3 and gets like 15 - 20MB/sec, not the best test though since it's not an S5 nor a Samsung Pro card: http://www.jayceooi.com/galaxy-note-3-usb-3-0-file-transfer-benchmark/ I'm guessing the S5 is a tad slower than the dedicated card reader. Or does the S5 use MTP or USB2.0 for the microSD card and USB3.0 is only good for internal storage? I don't know and I guess I don't care either, haha.

I treated my microSD cards like you do, leaving them in the device all the time. They were simply there to expand internal storage because Samsung only offers up to 32GB devices in America (why? we can't afford 64GB, Samsung? Aren't we the richest bastards in the world?). We'd better get the 128GB device on our carriers here if they want to directly compare to the iPhone6, which is obviously Samsung's goal.

Yeah there are tons of alternatives to SD cards, each with their own strength or weakness. While at home, use wifi and network file sharing. You can easily stream 1440p video on a decent 802.11n network. I use simple Windows file sharing accessed on Android with ES File Explorer. It works great. While away from home, if you really need more room, OTG is cheap while wifi-drives are convenient. With OTG, you're not limited by the measly 128GB max microSD card. I used my 2TB compact external HDD with NTFS file system even (had to use an NTFS mounting app on Android). With wifi drives, the 128GB models are seriously about the same price as a 128GB microSD card, yet you can use it with basically any wifi device instead of being limited to the dwindling number of devices with microSD slots.

That's too bad about the battery removal being difficult. I figured it would be, considering glass back and unibody design. Oh well, I don't care. I know how to make batteries last a long time so I am sure I could get 3 or 4 years out of the S6 with maybe 20% degradation (1000 charge cycles = 20% degradation with li-ion, approx).

JohnHolmes, i hope you aren't wasting too much of your keyboard rerere-explaining alternatives solutions :) But i think it's more about people wanting to whine more than not knowing "other ways".

I personally hardly remove my sdcard from my phones, unless i have to upgrade phone or card and i prefer wireless transfers between phone and computers than wired ones. (Excepted if i need to copy a few gb's before going on vacation, then i pull my usb cable out). You said all that too with a few other guys, but people keep coming back with same rants.

I don't keep all data which is valuable to me on my phone only even microsd card, but on my computer and some not shared cloud account.

OTG adapters and even OTG USB drives are common and cheap nowadays.

There are even cheap wireless routers which include USB/SD ports shared for people afraid of broken usb ports.

As for removing battery of a S6, i checked that page in its manual, seems pretty hard since it's necessary to lift the glass back, then the whole motherboard before accessing it :)

Wrong with S5, transfers are faster on the phone than on a standard microsd even class 10. Unless you have some Sandisk Extreme U3 in some USB3.0 adapter on a decent computer (not a laptop) because even then S5 is usb3 too.

If it's large amounts of cheap storage you want on your S6, sorry you are going to have to pay more for that 64GB or 128GB model. But if all you're doing is backing up apps, you could do that on the 32GB model and dump files onto a laptop or external storage device as needed. Is that really so much more inconvenient than this process - 1) Turn off phone 2) Take case off of phone 3) Take battery out 4) Pop memory card out 5) Put memory card in microSD card reader or swap it with another microSD card or whatever the heck you're doing with it that requires it to be removable 6) Leave battery out while you transfer files off the mem card if you plan on putting it back in phone 7) Put microSD back in 8) Put battery back in 9) Turn phone back on 10) Hope you didn't get any txt or calls while phone was off

Not adding a SD card is clearly marketing.if they add one SG6 will be perfect and no one will be willing to buy the next flagship after SG6. That's why they haven't add one. Try to understand the marketing strategy here :)

Yeah bro. I will buy s6 edge 128GB just for one thingbecause samsung xonfirmed that 10 minutes of charging give u 4 hours usage but off course i cant sell my s4 128 GB cost 1000e but i will buy it after 4 months of marketing and may be i will get a used one

Nomad, 11 Mar 2015The performance looks impressive but I require a removable ... moreSounds you like would like the Galaxy S5 or LG G3. They are pretty cheap these days and have microSD. You could use a Galaxy S6 with OTG-adapter and a microUSB card reader with a 128GB card in it, but you don't want extra hardware to pack around. However, you said you backup photos to USB, so you must be packing around a laptop or something. You can still do that with the S6. Sounds like the only reason you starting using the memory card for files was because your microUSB port broke on your S2. Even if Andrdoid somehow broke on your new S6 and it wouldn't boot up, or perhaps you broke the screen and it doesn't recognize touches, your photos would still be on the data partition that won't get wiped when you factory reset your S6. If your pics are really that important to where you're THAT paranoid, maybe you should be using a D-SLR. Plus, backing them up or simply storing them directly on microSD card is not that good of an idea since microSD is fairly unreliable and you could lose all the data on it, not to mention it's slow and someone could steal it out of your phone and get your pics if you don't encrypt it. It would be a lot more likely to lose data from a microSD than from the /sdcard/ partition on internal storage.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: We have tons of phones with sealed batteries. Phone makers include a way to hard-reset phones without removing the battery. Even phones with removable batteries can be hard reset without removing the battery, usually by holding power for 5 or 8 seconds, sometimes in combination with volume-down or up. The fact that so many people pull their battery when their phone acts up is astounding to me. Maybe it's a behavior left-over from Blackberry users, but it's an out-dated belief, that's for sure.

Not trying to talk you into getting an S6, but I think people aren't really thinking about alternatives to having microSD + removable battery. They would rather whine about it which does zero good. Like Samsung gives a rip. The only thing that will make them listen is sales figures. If the S6 flops, they might consider adding microSD if possible with UFS 2.0 (still unsure if it's technically possible, but I'm pretty sure it is).

I wonder how hard the S6 is to take apart enough to replace the battery. I'm guessing pretty hard but maybe not. We need a tear-down of the S6, haha. Samsung will surely make a lot of money on replacing peoples' batteries in their S6 just like Apple does. What is it $79 or $99 for battery replacement in iPhones? Yet the battery itself costs them under $10 I'm sure.
