I wonder if the whole "gorilla glass 4" theory is even true. I have the same phone and now I'm extra worried that I might break mine.

I recently got an Active based on the idea that it should be a little more durable. It fell from a seated position about 2 feet to the ground and cracked the screen. Its 35 days old, now I have to pay $200 in deductible fees to make an insurance claim. I feel this is an inferior product and I feel I'm stuck with a piece of junk that I'm affraid to use.

Had it for 8 months dropped it about 10 times all from 3 feet or less. Just dropped it about 1 ft yesterday and AT&T says its a internal crack and that voids the warranty. I thought this phone was supposed to be tough. Do not buy this phone it is shit!

I don't know what you people are talking about. My home is surrounded by dusty fields and I fish a lot...but I never have to worry with this phone. I can take videos underwater and the dust storms are not a problem with this S6 Active, unlike my iPhone 6, which was severely damaged by dust. I've dropped it on concrete and only received a small, almost unnoticeable, smooth bump. WiFi and service are great and I live in a very unpopulated rural area. I'd buy this phone twice if I could. I've had both the Active and Edge, and while the Edge is more aesthetically pleasing, the Active is a phone you can actually hold without fear of breaking it. Love it. Two thumbs up

People have taken the phone into salt water and without proper cleaning the ports began to corrode. So much for salt resistant.

Alien, 23 Mar 2016I was interested in this device even if i don't live in the... moreI would probably put a screen protector on the phone if you are buying it. Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is supposed to be more shatter resistant, but it seems to scratch very easily. Basically, since I received my current phone about 2 weeks ago, it's either been sitting face-up on my desk or in my pockets with the display facing inward as to avoid damage (I've made sure that none of my pockets have sand or grit in them, because there have been complaints that Gorilla Glass is very susceptible to scratching by such particles) and there are already two inch-long scratches in the display. They are almost un-noticeable, but you can observe them by reflecting direct sunlight off of the display. They're not the worst thing in the world. In fact, you can't even feel them at all. But from an "active" phone which people will expect to survive a fall down a hill, it's very disappointing. Granted, it's a pretty expensive phone, but you should not tout it as what it isn't.

I know someone who loves the phone. Virtually indestructible. He's quit the tech with electronics and recommended it to me. I just ordered one. I guess I'll see for myself.

I feel sorry for all the others who posted with ask the disappointing opinions. Please learn how to use a smartphone. I've been using it for a month and feel very comfortable with it. I took it for underwater selfies and video up to 2ft. I twice dropped it deliberately and it feel five times accidentally but I was lucky up till now. As compared to other phones, only a few drops would've resulted with dents or scratches for sure. Don't forget the hardcore battery backup. 20 hrs on normal usage Wi-Fi and cellular running. This is a good phone to keep rather than buying much expensive phones and buying casings and pouches for them. The rugged version gives a safer feel which makes it less vulnerable to getting damaged.

I am very disappointed in the Galaxy S6 Active. They have " over engineered " it and insulated it so much so that the internal antenna is poorly functioning and reception for calls and wifi is greatly diminished. The Galaxy S6 Active is terrible for call and wifi quality. I had no problems with the Galaxy5 but it was too sensitive to water and stopped working. I tried 2 separate devices and the problems were exactly the same. . Samsung and AT&T cannot agree on anything except to point fingers at each other. I've gone reverse in service,, very poor reception, etc. Too bad the Galaxy S6 Active a decent camera trying to pose as a mobile phone.

ive had the s6 active for maybe two months and the screen cracked after i gently set it on a rock while hiking. now my phone looks like there's a spider web across it. the galaxy s5 active was so much better, i dropped it countless times and there wasnt so much as a scratch on it. so much for "indestructible"
