What you can do is, just try to send it to someone over email, if the same issue occurs, then the solution might be as easy as flashing ROM.

Hello, my device was working perfectly until a week ago.

I've had it for just over 4 years and battery was still good (been replaced after 18 months).

Just before it stopped working the memory was really low (50mb) and the battery on 15%. I was clearing data / cache on some an app and the phone just froze.

I haven't been able to switch it on since, it doesn't respond to being plugged in.

Is it viable to have this phone fixed?

It's a pretty solid phone but the heating does tend to drain the battery little too much. If you have a device just sitting home you can send it over to my team, on facebook.com/ZedKnowledge .. just looking for devices to experiment on

                    I have an SM-G930.
It's slow. Painfully slow. Heats up just loading Twitter. The keyboard takes a solid 2 seconds to come up when a button is pressed. Accidentally double-tapping the home button to open the camera could cause 20 seconds of waiting. Don't get it. Just don't.

FullTank, 17 Feb 2020unfortunately galaxy S7 is a very big mess on the heat side... moreS7 may get hot, but you should see Nexus 5 once you raise the thermal limit, it goes to 85C easily and battery gets swollen in just a few days. Nexus 5 performance is just 33 MIPS, while S7 is close to 100 MIPS. So its much more efficient comparing to older generations.
Newer phones can get close to 200MIPS initially, but throttle after a few min to 130MIPS.
S7 has big.little architecture, meaning on 4 threads it can move the tasks to big cores, if you need more than 4, it will also use little cores, but will quickly limit frequency, throttling the performance.

Olu, 11 Feb 2020Love the device but sometimes it gets a bit hot nevertheles... moreunfortunately galaxy S7 is a very big mess on the heat side, it enters thermal throttling pretty much instantly in most of games, and in some certain ones like black desert mobile it thermal throttles so much that 30fps on OC with 0 throttling ends up being... 7..
how do i even know that it's 30fps without throttling? well there is 2 ways, first way is to put your S7 into fridge for a bit and then go into the game asap and be happy for some 3-5 minutes , second way is to buy cooling fans case for it which i done, 2x 5000RPM fans , which in most of cases leaving the throttling inactive or only on level1 , on the other side there is pocophone F1 which i bought, ended up paying much less for it, it have much stronger hardware inside it, and it even have fake liquid cooling in it (pipes basically) , even so, it helps with the heat, resulting in little to no throttling in most of cases. (while S7 loses 4x performance on throttling..)

so is S7 the best phone ever? no, definitely no
the most hot phone ever? i'm sure there will be even more of a disaster hot phone but S7 surely will be in the top of hot phones, as long as person knows hot to properly stress test the phone.

Love the device but sometimes it gets a bit hot nevertheless it's the best phone ever, no legs, no jitteriness when playing games the Ram management is amazing has for the battery life is pretty decent. Samsung S Series is way better than the A Series.

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2020which version you have , exynos or SD820 ? how about batter... moreIt's the snapdragon 820 version, I don't use it much as it's not my daily driver (it's part of my phone collection) but the battery seems to last around 6 hours on normal use before needing a charge.
