Yes Samsung may have improved the camera software, but it is not as smart as Sony because Sony is pro at photography. Ye, Samsung,IPhone always rated the best at photography, but Sony is already learning. Maybe a few years later Sony will become the king of phones like the time when there is Xperia Z3

I don't say Sony isn't good, but it feels much more bigger than he is. Galaxy s7 and S8 are the best comfortable phone that you can get.

what is good configuration?
1. have military standard shock resistance
2. double layeres gorilla glass + shatterproof screen
3. 4k screen
4. 4500+ mah removable battery
5. also with ip68 certified
6. 30 MP+ dual camera with more wider aperture and big pixels
if samsung can do this in their next future smartphone i will buy it even for 1000+$ , this is an upgrade , otherwise my current Sony XZ Premium is the best !

LG has abandoned its replaceable battery and they use old techs on its new flagship. There's no more reason for me to stay with them again.

I actually meant iMX260! That's the ExmorRS image sensor of the Galaxy S7.
I wonder, why the Xperia XZp is still stuck at 120fps without time limitation.
But I made another bad experience: that GalaxyS7 slow motion lag bug. I tried to film in slow motion for twenty minutes, which produced 1200*9=9600 MB of data, because Android does not use FAT³² anymore with 4 GB of maximum filesize. 4294967295b=2³²-1.
In the first three minutes, the skipped frames were not common. I don't know yet, whether it is dependent on heat, but after these three minutes, the frequency of skipped frames notably increases. After six minutes, this happens pemanently. In the remaining 14 minutes, the frameskip does not get much worse. But after six minutes, it is so severe, that your audience can get dizzy, and even 60fps are smoother than permanently laggy 240fps.
Ah yes, unlike Apple, Samsung's camera application since S6 (TouchWiz NatureUX 5) is severely vulnerable to screen rotation. Since S5 (2014, NatureUX 3), partially. But that is a different story. And you can't yet zoom into video thumbnails.
Additionally, power saving is disabled, while the battery is charging. That's OK at a wall charger, but what if I use a portable power supply such as a powerbank, where power saving is still relevant?

We don't want an 18.5/9 bezelless display with rounded corners and mono speaker under the phone, which is crappy for photo and video watching... We want an bezelless 16/9 display with front stereo speakers, that's simply perfect!

The only sony phone that was competing was the Xperia z3 since than Sony is nowhere near Samsung

No 1000fps video record... moreExcept, that's not going to happen, compared to Samsung, LG and Apple, Sony's phone share here in the US, and other countries has been pretty low. I'm not knocking them, they make some great stuff, but the chances of Sony overtaking Samsung in the phone department are slim and none.

The Galaxy S8 has four times as much computing performance as the Galaxy Note 3, which already had 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps, 720p@120fps (no real slow motion encoding, but proves sufficient processing power) and locked screen rotation, and no frame skipping, did already perform great. But two years ago, I noticed, how the 60fps mode on the Note 4 was messed up with Lollipop. I can tell more about that later, but that 60fps mode now shoots at 30fps. Huge disappointment.
The CPU performance of the S7 was sufficient for 2160p@60fps already. The image sensor reading speed is sufficient. iMX240. And 1080p should be possible at 120fps too. Because 2160p@30fps means 248832000 Pixels per second, which the Galaxy Note 3 hardware could deliver, I wonder, why this number has never been beaten by Samsung after that.
PS: I wish, that GSMArena would allow comment hotlinking. | At least, 64 GB of internal storage is now globally available. But the Camera apparently is better on the S7: same hardware, better user interface, presuming that you have still not upgraded to Marshmallow.

if you samsung fanboys are ok with what you get why are you comparing Samsung with Sony. its because you know Sony could beat Samsung in a way but sony is not after beating anyone its after giving customers what is worth their money

They didn't really improve their camera work since the Z3, which always kept me from buying an Xperia. It's just not particularly good in good light.. not to speak of their low light performance.
