Its main advantage is to reduce bezel. Looking more aesthetically beautiful is a given. The rest of its feature does seem useless. Samsung doesnt really need to put the edge panel feature to make it work. It work just fine without the stupid software; edge panel also work on flat screen so its not that special. As for your accidental touch issue, palm rejection is there to help. It seem obvious you never used one.

It is a very user-unfriendly to have NO external memory card, and NO detachable battery.

There is nothing special with having a curved display. It is a useless, cosmetic gimmick with zero advantages over a flat one. It usually gets covered up by a case, watching videos on it looks odd, and is prone more for accidental touches. Doesn't help it has a glass rear with smudges in seconds.
For two years now, Samsung has been duping millions of suckers with these promo shots when real life usage makes it far more awkward to use. Even Samsung's curved TV's has zero advantages. It might help with viewing angles from the side if it is concave, but this edge series is convex.
I really see nothing beneficial from this curved gimmick other than it looks good in promo shots and makes it narrower but can be awkward ergonomics in real life usage.

This year looks... moreyes best wait for next one as i keep my s7e then have look at s9 next year as 12 month usual fast than it thought... so i wait until m contract end then i may upgrade to s9 if it good one and yes it will be 7nm cpu and may new look like feature etc.. save more money then think it about for upgrade.

Let me explain you about S8 from technical point of view which your Lumia will take years to design. It is the first phone with Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 9 processor which is fabricated with 10nm process which is horribly fast. It's now incorporated with its own AI based Personal Assistant Bixby again for the first time which is even more complex than Siri and Google Assistant. Now, it has Type C connector and already S7 was known for fast charging and now just imagine its fast charging capability. And many more.... Finally, let me tell you Lumia 935 is not the first phone to develop IRIS technology, Fujitsu NX F-04G is the first smartphone with IRIS technology. Just get your facts right before posting anything anywhere.
