Got one, was looking forward to it, turned itself off after seven days, phone would not turn back on.. Brought it to AT&T ran Diagnostics phone was bricked, meaning wouldn't take a charge, lost all data pictures and contact information, AT&T replaced it since it was only one week old, got the new one, same exact thing happened this time after 6 days, I have now spent 8 hours at AT&T in the past 2 weeks and have now had to deal with the inconvenience of sending the phone back to Samsung for repair and now have to go 10 days without a working phone.. Wonderful when I haven't even made a single payment on this $900 piece of crap..avoid at all costs!

        Please, review this excellent gagdet!

Love the phone both spec and how it looks. For me almost perfect (and I’m woman not Rambo)

                  Guys

Anyone has an idea when the AT&T exclusivity will end oe when this device is going global ?

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2017Why take the phone kayaking??? 1: Emergency purposes 2... moreI work on a farm six months out of the year, and contract in the various war zones for the other six months. iPhone in an Otter Box has always been my go to. Project Fi is my carrier for global comms.

If they release this S8 Active factory unlocked without carrier subscriptions, like the rumor mill says is bound to happen, it will be my next phone.

                        1: Emergency purposes
                        2: Camera
                        3: GPS
                        4: Weather service
5: Having a job which requires me to be able to be available for questions 24x7 via phone, email or text message. Sorry if that's a strange concept to the McDonald's crowd.

sure there are non-Samsung phones that you could take. But absolutely NONE of them I've tested bring the flagship level phone to something I can actually put thru the ringers, on my off days and tolerate when I'm at the office. Sorry LG, the G6 is a good phone for the most part. Just not impact resistant at all. The V20 can take the lumps but it's not water resistant. Put them together in the V30 and I'll revisit that one.

Cat... great if you don't mind carrying around a mid range phone that's built like a tank and only slightly lighter than one and costs as much too. Don't bother trying to use it as a daily driver in an office either.

Kyocera tries to play in the same league as the Galaxy Active phones. But it's not even close. Battery life is decent, camera is poor, software is a mess, performance is middle of the road, and it's connections are so-so.

Moto, HTC, ZTE, Huawei might be options if they could improve water / impact resistance or at least start offering it. Especially Moto with their impact resistance.

Sony give me water resistance but absolutely no chance of surviving the hits. So so battery, good camera. Also a bit pricey

Blackview is actually half way decent all things considered. You will have to give up a large reputable company if something goes wrong, and they don't have good LTE support for US bands (in most places none at all). I have to give them props for great battery life, in a well built phone with decent software / specs for the money. The camera is surprisingly much better than I thought it would be.

Sonim can take the beating, offers a great battery, but they're just so expensive. Plus they aren't meant for pockets on pants. They are built for backpacks. The rest of the specs are blah, and the camera is no good.

Oh and the beloved iPhone... don't drop it... oh no. Water resistance, though stated in the specs water damage is NOT covered by the warranty. And we'll never mind that gloriously poor battery life and the whole "Apple's way or the highway".

And yes I've tried plenty of phones, more than most people can due to my job. But according to some people I'm a Samsung fan-boy. Oh well, so be it.

Anon12345, 17 Aug 2017most people wouldn't care about fm radio in their phone. ... more1) FM Radio is a safety feature as well, and comes in handy in cases of natural disaster as well.

                          2) As Samsung is the context here, a bigger RAM will translate into a better performance, not only today but over the life cycle of the product.

                          3) Just because Samsung has been doing well as a market leader, doesn't mean it is at the cutting edge of innovation. In terms of innovation, it definitely needs to wake up, and up it's game.

No need to be a blind follower, and set your benchmarks low.

this will be released only in usa? the only reason i not went for s8 because of dump edges which are uncomfortable and pointless screen resolution because most stuffs goes 16:9
