There IS wifi, you can download & use all the usual apps, ie, Facebook, yahoo & Gmail, viber, Skype etc etc.

Hi,
to install WhatsApp on tablets go to PlayStore and search for "Tutorial:WatApp for Any Tablet" Write it exactly like in apostrophes in the search box. Install this App (it`s not an app, it`s a video!) which describes what you have to do to get whatsapp running on a non cellular connectivity able tablet!

It is my first Android device. I am not an expert user.
I am a competent Linux user though [if that is any help, and I think it is]...
That said, I think if you want to store data as a default, to the external drive [SSD] you need to 'root' the device and then change some stuff, uh, settings in system. You have to do weird multiple finger button pressing, follow instructions carefully [that you have double checked]. Read those instructions all again, and make sure there are others that agree with the method you decide to use.
I have read that rooting an Android can 'brick' it... I have read that it is the user who screwed up, that if it is done correctly, rooting it will not 'brick' it.
I rooted mine. I didn't make terrible mistakes. Now, I can store my data to the ENCRYPTED SSD.
