Has anyone ever come up with a way to convert one of these to AC - with - a - cord - only use, thus getting rid of the need for obscenely expensive battery replacement every few years. I only use the thing as an ereader, and could do so for years and years, despite the idea horrifying geeks that it would be so uncool and cheap to be able to use a product without having to replace it and empty out my bank account every other year for the latest version....

If you want to read ebooks, say on Amazon Kindle, then you may change the default storage option to SD card from within the Kindle app itself. The app will still get installed on the internal storage, but your ebooks will be downloaded on the SD card. The same can also be applied for Amazon prime video, wherein the videos can be downloaded directly to the SD card, while the app still installs on the internal storage. For other apps that don't have a built-in option for downloading to the SD card, there's unfortunately no workaround available.

Acquired last dec 2018 and it was a gift. For the past 2 years it was reliable and not high maintenance, it fell flat on the floor few times but remained in tact. After 2 years i think it is deteriorating, maybe due to regular usage, battery slowly charging and sometimes doesnt charge at all, side volume down is not working anymore, camera getting bit blurry. Overall better than my 4gb ram laptop

I have the Tab S2 VE (2016),still going strong but I was surprised that the Tab A (2016) version was updated to Android 8,while my S2 that cost twice as much is stuck on Android 7,worst even it just received a new security patch June 2020 I think, come on Samsung treat everyone equally, just my opinion

Stopi if you're ever reading this, it's absolutely possible.
My SM-T810 has been running Lineage for the past 2 years now. Expect increased battery life (as all the Google and Samsung bloatware won't drain your battery anymore), but you'll lose the fingerprint reader functionality.

I have the T810 version and have owned it for quite some time.
Battery is still good and I use it everyday.
It's no longer supported and stuck on Android 7.0.
Looking to see if its possible to flash a custom Rom.

I have the 2016 version. My battery life is pretty poor. I get just over 4 hours of screen on time with wifi on auto brightness. That's pretty bad.

I also have Tab S2 VE,it had received one android version update. I am using LineageOS with Android 9 now, from hardware point of view is till okay the quality of the tab is also okay.
