For your purpose Tab S4 is ideal as it has the best display and quite decent specs.
Even I had the similar dilemma 2 weeks ago and even though the iPad is better in terms of specs, in real life usage its very difficult due to iOS restrictions.
Yes, you can connect the ipad to a laptop but you need to use a software (iTunes) for transferring anything. You cannot just copy paste and use it like android devices.
No. Ipad doesnt support the traditional pendrive.
If you are not used to apple devices dont buy it. I have used both these tablets and personally I'd chose the Tab S4.

Hello. I have been having a hard time choosing between Samsung galaxy tab s4 and ipad Pro 10.5. My primary tablet use will be for Web surfing, YouTube, watching movies, notes and occasional games like pubg.
I've never used any I-products before and I seriously want to try this one. However, I am bothered by some of the problems like...
Will I be able to connect ipad Pro 10.5 to a laptop that is not macbook?
Is there anyway to increase the storage capacity of the ipad like external devices?
Does it support a traditional pen drive?
I'll be very grateful if someone who is familiar with both ipar and Samsung tablets would answer this questions.

Ipad pro interface is clean but the device is almost useless accept for few apps because is not made to do real true multitasking. You go through stress to do basic things on an iPad. Most people buy it for fansy.

The ipad pro, tab s2, tab s3 form / shape is far better than tab s and tab s4 . Samsung should return to ipad pro 11 shape

Another tablet ??? The phones now are having 7 inches. SEVEN INCHES. That was 2013 and 2014 tablets.

I will make designs for my work sometimes will be at my laptop and othertimes will be with one of tab or ipad. Also, I will create ads and using microsoft account will not be every single day as I will be a freelancer but just in case. So, your suggest is very important to me and highly appreciated, last choice is tab S4 or ipad 9.7 or anything you recommend it for me?

Basically, Tab s4 if you're an office employee, Ipad pro if you're an artist. As for media consumption S4 is better simply because it uses OLED and wide screen.
