Anonymous, 07 Sep 2020a very bad tablet.I.bought this tablet about one month ago.... moreMine fell from a higher level - from a tall table and it survived without any scratch. It has a casing though and a tempered glass screen protector. Moral lesson? Don't count on gorilla glass and always place phones and tablets inside a protective case regardless of the brand because like with water damage, drop damage is not covered by warranty even for expensive Apple devices.

Constance, 02 Sep 2020I own s5e R52N619DSEW 2019. i am having issues with downoad... moreTab S5e is released worldwide including China. The China version doesn't have Google Play Store and other Google apps and services (YouTube, Gmail, Chrome, Google Maps, etc.) because Google is banned in China. Despite this, unscrupulous sellers still sell these units outside of China claiming they are 'Global unit' by tampering the ROM so it will have Google Playstore when there was none. This creates the problems you mentioned. You can factory reset your tab S5e but of it's China model, you'll have non-fixable issues with Google Playstore and Google apps/services. The only way is to return your unit, ask for a refund, and buy a true Global version.

Nicolas, 31 Aug 2020This is the best samsung tab? i looking only with snapdrago... moreYes it's the best midrange tablet from Samsung. If you want a much faster processor and even bigger screen with very high refresh rate and an even bigger battery with pen support and costing more than 2x this tablet, you can go for the tab S7+.

This device supports DEX but is not listed in the specifications. Was comparing with the Tab S6 and found that DEX was listed in the S6's specifications but not on this device's.

Maggi, 14 Aug 2020The fingerprint is amazing on s5e. Not once has it let me ... moreI agree 100%. I have more issues from optical under display fingerprint scanners than from traditional scanners like in the tab S5e. I really wish manufacturers do away with optical under display scanners. I have three phones with them (different brands including one from Samsung and Xiaomi) and they always have issues when fingertips go dry and flaky from frequent alcohol use and from frequent handwashing with soap and water.
Only by rubbing two fingertips for a short time or lubricating the dry fingertips with an oily part of the body (face or scalp) will get those annoying optical underdisplay fingerprint scanners to accept your fingerprint again. Otherwise, you get repeated false rejections. Never had those issues with any of my previous phones and tablets with traditional fingerprint scanners (tab S5e included).

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2020The side mounted fingerprint sensor on the tab S5e is actua... moreI'd like to add that the tab S5e's side mounted fingerprint reader may have ergonomic issues causing fingerprint registration and scanning issues on your fingerprint. You may try registering another finger like the middle finger instead of the index finger instead. Again, if all these workarounds fail, you definitely have a defective unit. Ask for a replacement or refund. Replacement and refund should be easy if you bought the tablet in sealed box, brand new and from an authorized Samsung tablet seller and you have the official receipt to show the seller.

apollo, 14 Aug 2020regret I bought this piece of junk. Tried it about 6 month ... moreThe side mounted fingerprint sensor on the tab S5e is actually very accurate and reliable. It works EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. for me and for many others here. In fact, you are the first one here to complain about it, which is a rarity. There have been more complaints about display issues on the tab S5e here than its reliable fingerprint scanner.
Traditional fingerprint scanners are in fact, more reliable than optical under display scanners. They don't care if your fingertips are dry from too much alcohol and handwashing with soap and water not like optical under display scanners. Optical under display fingerprint scanners are just not as reliable as the older fingerprint scanners. The reason is that optical under display fingerprint scanners require your fingertip surface to be sufficiently shiny/reflective to the light that the scanner emits for proper fingerprint registration. Natural oil/sebum secreted by the skin is good and sweaty hands are good because they are oily and never dry. However, if you have dry, flaky fingertips from frequent alcohol use and frequent handwashing and you are not fond of using oil based skin moisturizers, the dry, flaky, oil free fingertips will cause repeated false rejection of your fingertip on optical under display scanners. The only way to get the annoying scanner to accept them back and avoid rejection is for you to rub your fingertips first against an oily part of your body (face or scalp or rub 2 fingers together to improve fingertip reflectiveness) so that proper fingerprint scanning and recognition without repeated false rejection can resume. There's no such issue with the older, traditional fingerprint sensors.
So if you are having problems with the tab S5e's side mounted fingerprint scanner, you may have a defective unit. Return it for a replacement or a refund. But before you do, try these first.
Properly clean the fingerprint sensor and re-register the same fingerprint multiple times, ensuring your fingerprints are never dirty or dry or flaky for every registration process. If fingerprint recognition still fails, do a factory reset and repeat procedure. If still the same, then you obviously have a defective unit. Return it for a replacement or refund.
